IMO he put in the best performance of the Australian GP - taking a crap car and hauling it into (what should've been) 3rd place.

Hamilton was also the best driver in 2007, considering that he was a total rookie to a premier racing series and matched Alonso's points total. When was the last time Alonso was matched or outperformed?

Last year Hamilton won the title in 2008. Overall, he is the driver who has scored the most points over the last 2 seasons.

I would say he is definitely one of the top 3 drivers in F1, perhaps top 2, even.

His character though, leaves a lot to be desired, but then all the top drivers - Senna, MS, Prost - also had questionably characters who were prepared to do anything to win.
 
BTW, I'm listening to the alternative commentary from FIVE LIVE. CBBC also is an option for Freeview commentary, but those dudes sound very very young.

Anthony Davidson is certainly a better commentator than the Leggard bloke, who I think is awful.
