Malaysian Grand Prix 2010, Sepang - Race 3/19

Great drive by Button.

Shamefull drive by Hamilton, should have been black flagged for that Weaving not given a poxy warning.

is that serious? im not Hamiltons biggest fan but a black flag would have been very harsh there, its not like he was blocking an overtake - just trying to break the slipstream Petrov had

Hamilton was weaving, but he wasnt blocking.

If Petrov had moved out of Hamilton's tow to overtake and then Hamilton chopped him off to prevent the overtake, this would be weaving and against the rules.

What happened was that Hamilton was moving out of the way of the Renault, to ensure the yellow car didn't get a tow. It was Petrov who was actually following Hamilton, rigidly (which was right).

In summary, Hamilton did nothing wrong and Johnny Herbert deemed it not to be an offence. (it was Johnny Herbert wasn't it?)

Hamilton was great today, but how he got away with that weaving I have no idea.

Him or Alonso for my driver of the day.

It wasn't really weaving like what Massa did in Oz. LH was trying to break the slipstream from Petrov. And with good reason, as Petrov looked dangerous for most of that race.

He did block an overtake as Petrov would have had him down the inside had Hamilton not been weaving.

Webber looks furious :x

Furious for being a lesser driver than Vettel?

The guy is not a top line driver and he has to accept that, whether he likes it or not. He is a good No.2 and is doing a decent job in the fastest car on the track.

I'd probably give the drive to of the day to Lewis, although the weaving did mar things, I don't think it mattered in the long run.

Special mention to Hispanic Racing for getting both cars round on their third GP.

Come on thats brundles excuse, it's still weaving and it's not allowed. Most weaves with a car behind before have been with the car behind in the slipstream.

A great race for him, he's won me over this season but that should have been a drive through atleast.

He did block an overtake as Petrov would have had him down the inside had Hamilton not been weaving.

Wrong.

Had Petrov continued driving in a straight line, Petrov would never have had the straight line speed to overtake Hamilton. This was the very reason why Petrov had to stick to Hamilton like glue, as he Hamilton moved from side to side.

Had Petrov had the straight line speed (as I think you are suggesting), he would not have weaved along with Hamilton and would've kept a straight line and simply drove past him.

It's not black and white like that. Watch again.
You can watch it as many times as you want, Hamilton changed his line 4 times to prevent Petrov from overtaking, Petrov already had the tow he only didn't go for the overtake because he didn't know which way Hamilton was going to go next.

Hamilton was trying to move out of the way of Petrov to stop him getting a tow, Petrov followed his every move, if Hamilton was responding to Petrov's moves, it'd be a different story.

Good decision by the stewards.

Looking at the way the RedBulls are performing - assuming that RedBull maintain their advantage, I think Ferrari/McLaren have to start putting their weight behind a single driver. There is no way Ferrari can continue to allow Massa to hold up Alonso and take points away from eachother, when Vettel/RedBull are clearly the fastest driver/car combination.

Up to this point, Ferrari have been relying on Vettel not finishing races in top shape - Ferrari cannot rely on this to continue. They simply have to back Alonso (or even Massa) and go with it. If they don't start backing a single driver, Vettel could drive away with the championship.
