Malware removal software

Is there a portable version of malwarebytes for machines that are already compromised and therefore won't allow it to install?

Not that i know of, and i dont think you can run it on a UBCD, thou you can run Super Antispyware from a UBCD on a compromised Machine.

I've read on this forum people saying just rename the installer and then the .exe once installed, which seems to do the trick.

Right, I finally got the system clean, but it was Microsofts tool, not Malwarebytes that deleted the offending file in the end, Malwarebytes kept missing it and therefore it was reinfecting the system on bootup.

i used to use spybot & adaware

now I use

ccleaner (speeds up all the others scanning times)
malwarebytes
spybot
adaware
nod32

disable system restore first

If your using a 32bit OS a good free addition is Threat Fire a quiet and light weight behaviour blocker

Agreed. I don't see this mentioned on here as often as it perhaps should be because as a realtime agent on an uncompromised machine it offers the best all round protection I've seen, without noticeably impacting performance.

cant shout about superantispyware I'm afraid. didn't do anything that avg antispyware couldn't when i had that. now using a-squared and that found stuff that avg didn't. Never tried malware bytes so cant comment. and spybot was fine till i used other apps

Spybot S&D. I used Malwarebytes and it kept popping up every hour or so saying some random crap, so I uninstalled and Spybot has given me no such problems.

Really? Did you buy the full version for its real-time scanning? Malwarebytes should only be running when you run it. Can't understand what was happening for you to get a popup every hour or so.

The look on my face when it kept popping up, also priceless.. But enough about that, get Spybot S&D!
