would have liked pt but both rings were expensive enough as they were so couldn't afford the extra at the time ( regret it now )

Can you see the visible difference between platinum and white gold?

there is not a huge visble difference in colour as WG is Rhodium plated ( a similar metal to PT ) however with time they begin to look different, WG does not wear well and frequently needs the Rhodium replated

pesonallY I love brushed finish Pt but when scratched it is more difficult to restore the finish

this is the "other" ring , will see if I have a pic of wedding ring

In my experience, yes. My platinum wedding ring is a different colour to my friend's white gold one, it has a deeper lustre. I'd imagine the disparity in colour would grow over time as the Rhodium wears off the white gold.

I actually found mine slightly too 'bling' when brand new, but the patina it gets over time from minor scratches etc turns it into a nicely 'brushed' finish. I can't see myself ever getting it re-polished.

Wow, erm, that's quite.....bling. Your taste in rings is diametrically opposite to mine. Can't stand fussy detailing or jewels.

they don't look that bling in real life ;) I am pretty open in my tastes and was looking at a flat brushed pt band for my wedding ring but ended up with this :D

Heh, SO not my cuppa tea, but if you like it, that's all that matters.

I'm far more traditional/plain in my taste - although my phone cam is pox, apologies :)

Rotty is really a white Mr T!!!

how resistant to scratching is platinum?

Edit - having googled, looks like it depends on that composition of the alloy. If I had a better cam you'd be able to see all the minor scratches and dings on it. One thing that normally freaks people out is how heavy it is. Heavier than 18k gold and massively moreso than silver.
