Man sues Oxford for 'only' getting a 2:1...

lolwut?

Study harder, and do a proper degree!

/runs

He's clearly full of **** though. I got a Desmond in obscure languages from UCL and I'm not unemployed. Looking back, I wish I'd studied more though. In hindsight, the lecturers were legends.

lol good luck with that.

i worked at a uni for almost 20 years and there were a few people that tried this sort of thing and they were politely told to get stuffed.

the fact he brought this case in the first place is probably a good indicator of the more likely underlying reasons for failing to achieve the high flying career he wanted than that 2:1

Given the amount of time that has elapsed there would have to be pretty extreme circumstances to get anywhere legally.

This kind of thing is only going to increase as university fees increase. These kind of cases come up all of the time in the US.

Surely if one person on his course got a 1st it voids his whole argument?! How can he prove the university was at fault if his peers managed to get a 1st?

The guy was a trainee at Clifford Chance... then he was let go. He worked for a bit as a tax consultant at E&Y... then let go from there too. So he blatantly still had the opportunities regardless of him getting a 2:1 rather than a 1st - if he's trying to blame his lack of success on depression etc.. then fair enough/whatever but to try and boil that depression down to a single event/result in his life is ridiculous.
