Man Utd vs Blackburn Lg Cup Semi *SPOILERS*

How is this?
They aren't even printed yet!

They don't need to be printed to have a ticket sorted. Season ticket holders get priority. A group of 14 goes to every game, being one of a group of 20 has it's advantages as you often get 1 ticket +1 meaning a possible 28 tickets, pretty much guaranteeing everyone, who wants one, a ticket.

I am one of them :).

Why doesn't your 'boy' support Norwich and not Blackburn? :p

exavtly the same reason its results that appeal to most people my boy supported blackburn in the 95 season when they were doing quite well i suppose i have been a norwich fan all my life like my father.
good bit of searching on your behalf.

I don't agree it's mostly results that matter to most people. Wigan don't get full house's even when they're 6th in the Premiership.

It was a bit of a hypocritical question on your behalf wasn't it or are you going to force your son to support Norwich now instead of Blackburn?

I support Manchester United because i was actually born a couple of miles from the ground and my Dad used to take me to every home match.

Not that those reasons give me any more right to support Man Utd than anyone else. People can support who they like, its a free world!

I live in Bolton now because i have obviously moved from Manchester. I've lived in a dozen different places throughout England. Should i change my allegience everytime i move out of the area of my 'chosen' team?

fair enough.

good game, just caught the 2nd half, felt man utd had another gear if needed, just had to do a job i guess, good to see Wes Brown coming along, man how good he could have been if he had not had so much time out, think he done is knee ligs at 19 and it just went from there really, fingers crosses he's past that now and the rest of the prem can see how good he is...

Because I've been supporting United for 13yrs, Northern Irish football isn't exactly what you'd call a high standard and is full of sectarianism.

me too, although I've been supporting them for nearly 19 yrs. My dad and family are big Utd fans so I grew up with it. George Best stopped playing football for Utd in 1974, 7 yrs before I was born. ;) Man Utd have a lot of Irish support over here.

Why Man Utd then fella?
Any affiliation with them or is it the George Best thing?

Just curious , no sly digs :)

The big football teams Northern Ireland support wise were always Celtic and Rangers for sectarian reasons, and if you weren't into that it was usually Liverpool or Man Utd. Why did I choose Man Utd?

Lots of reasons really. If I'm 100% honest though, my main reason as a kid growing up was Eric Cantona. Unbelievable player. When you're playing footy as a kid and the first time you see a player who can take it past people at will and hit volleys from outside the box I think that kind of shapes what you think of football.

Also, at school there was a big divide between the different supporters. One of my mates had a brother who was a Newcastle supporter, other guys were Arsenal but all my closest friends supported United. They gave me my first exposure to the team back in the days of May, Kanchelskis and Irwin.

I wish I had a local team to be cheering on, the closest I have is NI and that was oh-so-sweet one(nil) glorious night not so long ago. At the end of the day though, you're the guys who'll get to cheer on your national side in 5 months time (I'll be supporting England too, as I support the home nations and Ireland didn't qualify either Northern or Republic). I can't imagine what it must be like to be a Wigan supporter and have supported your team as they rose up and up to the Premiership - they're a great side to watch and embody a lot of the team spirit lacking in a lot of the big money clubs these days.

I dislike this support your local team thing, I mean, where do you stop? Am I supposed to support the pub team from the end of my road? They're more local than Man Utd.

So because I come from N Ireland I cant support Man U. Football is a global game. Look at the money generated by clubs- if this was only by local people then where do you think the club would get the missing revenue from? Who would pay the players their lousy crap salaries?
Sorry but I can choose the club I support because I can. And yes I do attend matches before you ask. Not as often as I like but a couple of times a year. Will be over next for the Fulham game.

Robbie Savage - 'I dont understand why I get so much Flak' Get up off your ass when tackled rather than rolling round like youve been shot and I might have more respect for you. The replay of the Smith tackle show he made minimal contact if any yet he was rolling round like he had been poleaxed. RVN did catch him on the head but that should have knocked some sense into him - but didnt.
Wasnt a bad performance but could have been better. Friedel did well for Blackburn. Thought the penalty was a bit soft.

i hate how man utd fans have to justify why they support them. If you follow a team religiously, watch every game you possibly can (tv or otherwise), and felt the hurt when we lost the FA cup final in the way we did...... then why does it matter where you're from?

I myself have a share in a season ticket which gets me 5 home games a season and i'll occasionally go to CL/CC/FA cup games where the tickets go on general sale. Tickets get passed round every game and its luck which games you get, i got the chelsea game :D

AND IM FROM STAFFORDSHIRE!

I know a few Man Utd fans that dislike the fact I support them because I'm not from Manchester or live there. The argument I put forward to them was "Would you rather all the players were from Manchester as well? And that you weren't allowed to buy or play anyone outside Manchester?" So that would mean no Keane, Cantona, Schmeichel, Kanchelskis, Giggs, Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Robson, Bruce, Pallister, Irwin, Ince, Beckham, McClair, Best, Cole, Hughes, Law, Stam, Charlton.....the list could go on. They quickly shut up if I remember correctly. :)

If the team is full of multi-national players then the fans can be multi-national! :p

I think it's because a lot of fans see team supporting as an extension of regional identity to some extent. Even though I'm now up in dirty Hull, I support Arsenal because they were my local team for my nineteen years of growing up. Arsenal are Islington, London and I am Islington, Lodon, and thus Arsenal are my team. I didn't really have any more choice in the matter than I did to choose where and when I was born. When and if I have any kids, they won't be Arsenal fans (unless they particularly want to be), they'll be fans of whatever the nearest team to them is, because just like me, it'll be part of who they are.

I mean, I've been planning on seeing Hull play when I actually get a decent amount of regular money for a while, but I can watch and cheer them all I like, and support them to some extent, but they still won't be truly my club in the way that Arsenal are, simply because I don't consider myself a Hull-ite (or whatever the hell the term would be), and even if I did, it's too late for that anyway. I don't follow Arsenal because I enjoy their football or whatever, I do it because they're a part of who I am like being a Londoner is. I imagine its the same for other fans all over the country.

That said, as Ripper said, as long as you follow the team you support with passion, I don't see that it really matters, it's just a different way of doing the same thing in the end. :)
