Anyone else love this show. Thouhght I start an appreciation thread, could only see on in the tv section, thought we needed a more food orientated one.

New series starts in America June the 1st but can't seem to find anything on uk series.

Season 4: June 2011 - present
On June 1, 2011 at 9PM ET, Travel Channel will present a new season of Man v. Food, entitled Man v. Food Nation. As before, Richman will travel across the US to visit cities known for their interesting eateries. [18] Some of the locales to be featured on Man v. Food Nation include New Haven, Connecticut; Tampa, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; Albuquerque, New Mexico and Harlem, New York City, among other locales. [19]

Anyway main side point, was watching it tonight and he had a jerk chicken baguette with banana ketchup. Wtf, has anyone tried banana ketchup and what the hell does it taste like?

Has anyone done any of the challenges or tried recreating any of the dishes featured?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banana_ketchup

Banana ketchup or banana sauce is a popular Filipino condiment made from mashed banana, sugar, vinegar, and spices. Its natural color is brownish, so it is often dyed red to resemble tomato ketchup. Banana ketchup was made when there was a shortage of tomato ketchup during World War II, due to lack of tomatoes and a comparatively high production of bananas. In the Caribbean, the company Baron Foods Limited manufactures a banana ketchup which is yellow in keeping with the color perception associated with bananas. Baron Foods Grenada facility also makes a variant referred to as "Nutmeg" Banana Ketchup which is a combination of the exotic flavor of nutmegs and the typical banana ketchup flavor.

Flavor and use
Banana ketchup is sweeter than tomato ketchup and is similar in taste to the Indonesian Kecap manis and the Thai sweet chili sauce. In Filipino households, this ubiquitous condiment is used on just about any dish - omelettes (torta), hot dogs, burgers, fries, fish and other meats. Banana ketchup is also a vital and distinct ingredient in Filipino-style spaghetti (sweeter than the traditional Italian spaghetti).[1]
It is exported to countries where there is a considerable Filipino population (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Hong Kong, France, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand).
Filipino food technologist Maria Y. Orosa (1893–1945) is credited with inventing a banana ketchup recipe.[2][3]

Love this show!

I'm off to america in July and I've been watching the episodes to the places I'm heading and making a note of the restaurants :D

Not planning to do any of the challenges but still going to come back fat!

In Chicago I need to visit Luky's for their overstuffed sandwiches, get an Italian beef sandwich at Al's and eat a Chicago deep dish pizza at Gino's East.
New Orleans has to be a Po boy at Mothers Restaurant.
Austin is the Salt Lick which is some amazing BBQ looking place.
I love chillies but I don't think I could handle the burger at Chunky's in San Antonio, I think it was called the 4 horse men.

Love the show, the format of it is annoying but i overlook it for all the amazing food.

Some of the steak and BBQ is mouthwatering and I'm looking at it from a different continent.

The Mexican influenced food looks amazing too. Burritos and Tacos etc. Nomnmom.

I love it, the food is amazing when you are hungry, I watch it sometimes when I am hungry for the lulz

This time around he is not taking part in eating challenges but getting general public to do it. Which should be different hope he does a couple of challenges because his reaction is great when he wins.

On his facebook page I mentioned he should come to the UK and to a few shows.

I've yet to try banana ketchup but my brother loves the stuff! Oh a side, I love this program always gets me through a hangover too haha.

He's annoying, you can tell he has a drama degree but I have to watch the show for the food.

Pretty much this.
It's so cringeworthy when, halfway through a challenge, someone will come up to him, do a first-bump and shout 'Come on Adam, you can do it!'
They have some pretty incredible food on there though, so it's good to watch just to see that stuff.

Asfa do banana ketchup down world foods. Love tgis show.

Guys I work with go to burget plsce on boston episode

I recently spent almost a month there and never came across it once.

Depends where you go. If you go to any filo restaurant they will bring it out to your table. Its fantastic with bbq'd and grilled meat, something the filipinos do extremely well. Was there 3 days ago and got my pork tocino and rice fix.

I think it's a food programme for the average American. Don't show us pretentious tiny portions of gastronomy, show us enormous portions of deep fried crap, the more meat, cheese and chillies on it the better!

Followed by an eating challenge where someone really unconvincingly shouts "Come on Adam you can do it!" from the back.

Having said that I have watched it quite a few times so I can't hate it that much! I just don't understand why any of the people he talks to in these 'restaurants' aren't the size of a house!

Rubbish, some of the shows have great food, so what if its big portions, everything is bigger in America.

Some of the food is obscene but its still a good show.

I love it but it I only seem to catch ones I've already seen :/

I didn't think the banana ketchup he had on the subs actually had banana in them, they didn't mention banana when they read out the ingredients
