Voted Graham Turner, mainly down to the unbelievable job that everyone is doing at Shrewsbury. They've turned a profit and are debt free after recently building a new stadium. I think he epitomises everything that's being done at that club.

In the Premier League, I'd probably go with either Pardew or Rodgers :)

Whilst Pardew has had an excellent half-season, he only signed one player (albeit who has performed impressively) IIRC in January and Newcastle were hardly languishing in mid-table when they took over, they had a cracking first half under Hughton and most of the best transfer business (Carroll, Nolan out, Cabaye, Ba in) was done in the summer. Whilst he has done very well in the second half of the season I think it's harsh to ignore how well Newcastle were doing (and playing) prior to his arrival.

Likewise I don't see how RDM can be eligible for Manager of the Season for the relatively small number of games he has been engaged in. Martinez would be eligible if he actually got Wigan to win other than in the last 4 games of the season :p

Both Swansea and Norwich have done well and their respective managers deserve recognition for not being yet another hoofy promoted team - in terms of which Manager had the 'best' season as opposed to the team it is probably to be Hodgson, guided yet another team to mid-table mediocrity and picked up the England job to boot :D

As it's been such a topsy-turvy season it's difficult to pick any outstanding candidates that don't have arguments against them - if Arsenal finish 3rd that will have exceeded almost everyone's expectations yet was it because of, or in spite of (no small thanks to RVP) Wenger's managerial decisions? Mancini may well end up taking the title but in the same way as Chelsea the amount of money spent renders the achievement somewhat tainted.

Tricky one!

You do know that Pardew has been the manager there for a year and a half right?

Also last year, with less strikers available to him Newcastle had a better points/game ratio under Pardew than Houghton, who had Carroll uninjured and scoring, Pardew had Best and Ameobi(all but a non contest).

Carroll, Nolan, Barton out under Pardew, Arfa back to fitness and improving form under Pardew, bought Ba, Cisse, Santon, got the back four working better, the midfield working better, the new front two have been amazing, got existing players all playing better.

Only somewhat lemon is egghead from Utd but he was both cheap, and more to make up the numbers than anything else.

Lol epic failface, did I miss a whole year of football :o I blame the distance. And the timezones. And that it's Friday. And it's been a busy week. :p :o

Ok Pardew deffers then :p

Fair point!

But we all know John Terry is the Chelsea manager and he's not part of the poll. ;)

:D:D

And RDM is not even an option lol

What about AVB, Martinez?

Martinez??..what has he done to deserve the manager of the year award exactly??...oh i forgot hes managed to save your sorry arses from going down for another year. Dunno but that isnt enough to win the manager of the year award, now had he got you guys fighting for the top 4 places then maybe or even the PL title but fat chance of that happening:p

This is not a post to say i dislike the guy, i actually like him and feel sorry for the **** hes had to put up with for the past season barring the last mth or so.

Anyhow for me, its definitely Pardew...what he has done with Newcastle is outstanding although i think they have over-achieved much like Redknapp did with the Spurs a couple of yrs ago when they bagged a CL spot.

Anyways i imagine a snide Arsenal remark will come from you as your retort, its only a matter of when:p

I don't like Pardew but from the EPL he is the obvious choice.

Don't see how people can talk about Di Matteo when you consider how little time he's been there, and the fact that he's taken Chelsea BACKWARDS in terms of league position. AVB had navigated the club past the early FA Cup / CL games (admittedly not covering himself in glory in the first leg against Napoli) and he is just building on that foundation. If they fail to beat Bayern they will have failed to qualify for the CL for the first time basically since Abramovich arrived. Easy to point the finger of blame at AVB, but at least he was only 3pts behind Arsenal when he left, now they are 6pts behind.

This might not be a popular one but for me ?

Roberto Martinez of Wigan.

Lost 8 in a row, spent pennies, won 6 out of 8 to stay up towards the end of the season including beating Liverpool away, United at home, Arsenal away and spanking Newcastle 4-0 and only just losing to Chelsea because of a poor ref...

I fail to see how Pardew has eclipsed that...

Martinez could have pulled the collective Wigan finger out and not flirted with relegation for most of the season... Good run at the end but after so many seasons in the prem you expect someone to get past the "finish 17th" phase... (well not fighting the drop)

Pards has it because he's taken an over paid mess of a team and more or less gotten a bit of a surprise out of them with top 6. Bit like doing an Everton the year they went to the champions league, except with cash to back it up.

He more or less deserves it because they have made some astute signings in the transfer windows and has done what he's good at, making the best of a situation (so long as the rest of the club are playing along, a failure when he was with us) but it sort of belittles manager of the season that just beating expectations is more important than the achievement of the club in total.

Stand by Adkins has had the better season with taking a team to back to back promotions without breaking the bank (West Ham style). Di Canio and Powell have done more or less the same job very quickly building a team to their liking and making them win, which should really be an achievement too, but that's more for next season with how they deal with promotion.

If only we had money when Pards was our manager.

AVB had a good start but things rapidly deteriorated, the only reason they were even close to Arsenal then was because Arsenal had also done fairly poorly. All of the teams around Chelsea(apart from Spurs) did better in the 2nd half of the season than they did in the first, giving the impression that Di Matteo wasn't doing aswell as he really is.

Di Matteo has taken them to the Champions League final, won the FA Cup and is still challenging in the league, all with a team that everybody was saying was too old and needed replacing, not bad eh?

Why are there loads of managers from lower leagues on the list and not Rodgers and Lambert? It's far easier to win the Championship than it is to finish mid table in the prem..
