Manchester United: Frustration

Manchester United have snapped up goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak from West Brom on a season-long loan.

The Baggies were keen to hold onto the 24-year-old and repelled three bids from The Red Devils, but have finally relented after being offered a new deal.

In exchange for Kuszczak, United have agreed to hand defender Paul McShane and goalkeeper Luke Steele to West Brom.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who set his sights firmly on Kuszczak earlier this summer despite possessing the reliable Edwin van der Sar and promising youngster Ben Foster, could take up the option of signing the Polish international permanently at the end of the forthcoming season.

From how that reads, we've signed a keeper we dont need on loan for a season, for the cost of two players, and we have the option to purchase him at the end of the season.

Sigh.... Well at least its done and dusted, hopefully we can stop messing around and get Senna or whoever in now.

but how miuch is the option to buy him for? can this change or is it fixed. i predict end of season ahggling and a sum of closer to 5 million.

he probably won't even sign for them at the end of the season - howard needs regular games to see what he is really made of and foster needs the same. whoever does best will prob earn the number 2; if they both do well then man utd have 3 top keepers - with edwin winding down.

to those that did not think man u needed to get kusckak i think are wrong - and this loan is a perfect way to plug the gap and get rid of two players who clearly weren't gonna make it - they should do the same for fletcher in trying to get malbranque in exchange! he could play wide right, leaving ronaldo to play his natural game.

interesting to see diarra rumours hotting up - make the carrick purchase seem all the more rash - diarra and senna would have been cheaper and better. saying that a carrick and diarra midfield looks decent - with less reliance on scholes.

I'm going to have to have to disagree with you there I'm afraid.
Carrick, whilst over-priced, is exactly what we needed, a central midfielder who is calm on the ball and can play the important pass.

Senna and Diarra don't do that, 2 players who are similar as those 2 are wouldn't work, Carrick with Diarra would be superb, however I don't think we'll get him.

We have already paid for the transfer fee for overpriced Carrick. I agree that our budget won't allow us to buy Diarra. Seena is a more viable option. His experience in CL could be useful against Spanish teams.

id love to see him at united but maybe a bit tamer than the brash tackles he wa making in the WC.

would bee an awsome back of the park, shame about up front currently.

lol, it's a bit mental with all these contracts being renewed. I'm glad Park is getting a better contract though. They should be doing the opposite with Silvestre's contract, completely terminating it. I hate to think of how much £ he makes a week for being a buffoon.

probably the best off-the-ball player we have.

muhahahaha

That's the funniest thing I've read in ages.

I hope this new contract craze doesn't extend contracts for Scholes, Fletcher and O'Shea. :/

to be fair he did have a fairly decent time at left full back in the last third of the season.

Defensively I think he's quite good with the occasional lapse of concentration but every other aspect of his game lets him and the team down on a regular basis.

I thought the comment about being off the ball was in regards to Park, not Silvestre, because he goes on to mention about his stamina.

You're right, I've just read it again, oops my bad. :p

more reports in the papers today (the times i think) about hargreaves > utd. I wish they'd say where they get this information from though, fed up of newspaper gossip.

Went to the game today, my analysis:-

Van Der Sar- looked solid as usual didnt have much to do though

Bardsley- terrible, cant believe he is in the first team, everything he touched
was a disaster

Brown- good solid stuff, odd shaky pass though

Silvestre- very nervous as usual, some good interceptions

Heinze- needs match fitness, doesnt look very sharp at the moment

Ronaldo- looked lively in the second half, cant play striker to save his life

Scholes- average, the odd good pass but worringly for Man U kept rubbing his eye

Giggs- some flashes of brilliance, arguably United's best player today

O'Shea- the odd good tackle and play break up, seriously lacks anticipation

Park- busy busy, made some useful runs and link ups

Saha- some good runs, great finish for the first

Kuchzak- good saves, was tidy when needed

Miller- looked nervous, looks out of his depth at the club

Evra- some good play down the left, very suspect in the air though

Richardson- not on the pitch for long ,didnt do anything of note

Jones- didnt do much besides the goal, talks a lot on the pitch which is good to see

Solksjaer- needs match fitness, rusty as could be expected
--------------------------------------------------------------

Man U need a good holding midfielder BADLY

Scholes cant be relied upon now

Without Rooney there is little penetration
