I have spent an equal time in both and prefer Manchester overall.
If I had to choose a Northern city though, it would be Newcastle. Effectively lived there for 9 months and really enjoyed it.

A city so derelict that the city centre was used for a post-apocalypse decayed urban hellhole in a film because the filmmakers wouldn't have to do any work on it to make it a usable set for that purpose.I would happily move to Newcastle, I will definitely consider it when I'm done with work travelling.I'd have to agree with this, i think Newcastle is Englands best looking city, it's a great place to visit, it is my favourite place in UK and if i ever move back to England, it will be to here.
