Mangobreeders How to cook a steak Thread

wagyu is overpriced, this beef is hand reared at the castle.

Have you got any pictures? I somewhat doubt that stuff is going to compare to Wagyu.

It's a shame wagyu is so expensive over here though, you can get it for much more reasonable prices in the US/Australia. Half the problem is that the grading standards over here are virtually non-existant, hence why the meat the supermarkets and most butchers over here stock is very average.

Some of the nicest steak I've had (cooked a while ago) Organic Aberdeen Angus Fillet.

Colouring looks a bit red due to the camera but it was awesomely nice, I will try and get some more tomorrow but I am busy moving at the mo.....

Yep.

As the saying goes, if a good vet can't revive it, and it has been more than just threatened with a candle, it has been overdone.

Bleu ***.

It amazes me how many, "claim" to like their steak bleu. No one i ahve ever know likes their steak that way. Yet on OCuk we have an abundance of ppl who have their steak that way.

i wonder if is coincidence, or people are just saying it for effect.

well I am a head chef in a country restaurant. People ordering Blue steaks are very very much in a minority. I'd say majority of people including myself and most friends like it Medium Rare.

Now saying that, I did have fantastic bleu steak in france while staying there with a family. It was warm all the way through, but still bleeding. Well, I guess it could have been "Saignant" I don't know.

I can't actually cook it like that at home. I've tried, but the middle ends up cold, co it has to go back on the pan, or I leave it for too long and get medium rare instead.

If I could cook it the way they did in France, then yes, I would have it like that, but unfortunately I can't, so I happily settle for medium rare instead. **** it, its still steak eh? :D

Anyone know where I can get some top quality steak online? The supermarket stuff is rubbish and while my local butcher's steaks are quite good, but they don't have much other than rump or sirloin.

If i know the steak is good i will quite happily eat the centre cold, but thats just me.

No no no no, that's not how you do a steak. A proper steak has to have a lovely rosemary and anchovy sauce.

That's right you heard me ANCHOVY!!!!

I always wondered why people have strong flavoured sauces with steak, such as Pepper Sauce etc. I find it just detracts from the taste of the meat. I'd much rather just taste the steak.
