Mansell is spot on

So what are you suggesting? No changing of anything by the driver at all? Just a steering wheel and a manual gear shift and nothing else?

Yes! That would be interesting! Real racing!

So F1 should be as advanced as Karting.

Would that 'just' mean reducing aero significantly/limiting it so the air's a lot cleaner?

Yes. In theory. But nobody is making the rules to support that, and the teams have zero interest in making the car behind them go faster :p.

Wider cars with simpler front wings and elements of ground effect would make major steps.

Probably be more exciting to watch karting at the moment anyway!

The rules are only partially the issue, when one team has a massively better engine/car package the races will always seem dull.
The race Vettel won this year was by far the one we talked about the most, like him or hate him, most people were glad to see a Ferrari win a race, and had the hope it wasn't a blip (it was).

The driver aids you think the car has, simply are not what you thought they were when you initially made your point, most of the automatic driving things were removed, and drivers have to physically brake without many of the standard features our road cars have.
Even the engine and fuel modes, they have to manually change those and indeed, change brake settings as they drive, sometimes many times per lap.

Mansell had a much more driver friendly car, he sat in it, and drove it with active suspension and all the gimmicks and tricks, and it was just vastly superior to anything around it, so he totally destroyed what was an utterly boring season. Mansell actually seems to crave for the era in which he didn't win championships.

During our annual visit to Knockhill for the BTCC we make a stop off at the (slowest ever known to man) hire karts as it is hilarious and about as good a entertainment as you'll get. We've been known to miss entire races on the actual track just to watch the karting. :D

remove the driver.

The teams would save a crap load and it would become all about developing the best quickest and most reliable cars. Plus we might get automated cars on the road quicker

You just need to change aero so that a slip stream is there all the way up to the back of the car in front

I hate drs, but would rather have it than just drop it!

You can't put a minimum fuel load in as it would penalise the efficient engines!

An Autosport article (I think it was them) explained that there's no point in forcing the teams to fuel to 'maximum' because all they'll do is force a 'high fuel burn setting' on the formation/parade laps to get down to a minimum.

Yep. Like we had with the fuel 'tokens' in qualifying where they would all go out at the start of the session and drive round at very high maps deliberately burning fuel while driving slowly, and then when there was 5 minutes left they pitted for fresh tyres and did their qualifying laps.

Far too modern, Lotus 49 tbh. Also going to replace my Golf with a Model T.

Indeed, because that's exactly the same thing as wanting to see F1 cars that have room for development.
