I've not been on here for a very long time so sorry if this has been discussed to death already. I'm finding Mantle has significant frame drops and stability issues in BF4 (using 14.4 drivers). Im actually getting better performance using openGL. Does anyone else have any advice or understanding to get
1) Mantle working
2) What drivers are currently best for BF4

At the moment I'm using 14.4 Drivers and I have Mantle off in BF4 as havering it on was giving my frame rate drop outs

also I did try 14.7 but they didn't want to instal for me

Is it just a driver issue then? I also heard AMD saying Manlte doesnt work correctly with cards with less than 4gb of Vram. Where can I get 14.7 rc3, didnt see it on AMD's website last night?

Hello dmferrett,

Currently i would recommend until DirectX 11 API as Dice are working to fix a system memory leak that is present within Mantle in Battlefield 4. Please see my previous quote below for further information. This is not an AMD issue I'm afraid, so changing drivers will not cure it. I've been using DirectX11 myself now for a few weeks without issue in this title.

There is a system memory leak present in Battlefield 4 when using Mantle. Dice are aware and are working on a fix. I'm hoping it will be available when the next big patch is due, which should be sometime this month. If people are having this issue (where Mantle performance degrades the longer you play) i recommend using DirectX11 for now, which is unaffected by this issue. A handy way to check if you're suffering from the memory leak is to press ctrl + alt + delete and check how much system memory Battlefield 4 is using. It should be around 3-4gb maximum. As you can see from my screenshot below when i reported the bug, i was using a lot more than that which was causing fps drops as more memory was being used.

Try to fit that 3GB vRAM buffer. To do that, drop the texture quality to very high/high from ultra and if needed, go for 2xMSSA instead of 4xMSAA, resolution depending.

OP

Change the drivers to 14.6 or 14.7
Use DX11
Make sure ULPS is disabled
Framepacing on

Problem solved.

Hi Kaap,
Installled the latest drivers 14.7 and did all the above but after 5-10 mins in BF4 the frames drop in Mantle 24-110 fps. In D3D the lowest is around 80fps but its relatively constant. It looks like Matt is absolutely right about leakage. (I also read an article saying that AMD state 4gb is needed to geet the best out of Mantle!!!)
