Many New Build Issues

Firstly I’m new here and this is my first post; granted there are soo many problems with this PC please accept my apology if it is in the wrong part of the forum! But if anyone has even the smallest of suggestions it will be greatly appreciated!
I recently upgrade my motherboard and CPU due to some RMA issues and have been having several small issues to the point that it is now beginning to bug me, they are as follows:
1) The PC is randomly turning on when the PSU is left turned on and plugged in after being shut down.
2) At random times I will hear the hardware disconnect/reconnect noise as if a piece of hardware is quickly being unplugged and plugged back in again - mainly during gaming but sometimes just during normal usage.
3) The hardware disconnect/reconnect noise mainly happens when I am gaming and often after I've exited the game I receive an error message in the task bar "One of the USB devices attached to your computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
4) The front usb3.0 ports on my case do not function correctly when using usb3.0 devices – when copying files it stops mid-way through the process then the device becomes inaccessible and has to be removed and placed into the front usb2.0 port for it to function. Yet the rear usb3.0 ports work with no issue.
5) The optical disk drive randomly disappears from my computer and as a result does not physically work/respond when the open button on the front of the disk drive is pushed until the PC has been restarted; typically happens after gaming.

All my drivers are up to date as I have just re-installed Windows [7] to see if that would help eliminate these problems and it has not.

My previous system was:
CPU - Intel i5-3330 3.0GHz
Motherboard - Asus P8H77-m
Memory – Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
SSD – Kingston 120GB SSDNow
HDD – Seagate 1TB 7200RPM 6Gb/s
GFX - Asus HD 7750

I never experienced any of those issues, but the RMA was due to upgrading the case so I could have front usb3.0 access - which didn't work. Now I have seemingly opened a can of worms trying to obtain this, yet I am no better off even with more upto date components.

The current system spec is:
Motherboard – Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5
Processor – Intel i5 4590 3.3GHz
Memory – Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
SSD – Kingston 120GB SSDNow
HDD – Seagate 1TB 7200RPM 6Gb/s
GFX – Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970
PSU – Corsair CX600W V2 ’80 Plus Bronze’
Case – Cooler Master Silencio 452

If someone somewhere has experience this or could shed some light on resolving any of these issues that would be nothing short of spectacular!

I've had the USB 3 issue before when using an Akasa front 5.25in panel. I could never get it working properly so ended up binning it. I'd bite the bullet and stop using the front case ports and use the rear USb 3 instead.

The PC turning on by itself is likely a 'wake on lan' type of setting in the BIOS. Have a good look around and see if you can find anything.

The disappearing optical drive could be motherboard as pointed out above but I'd rule out cables first - try using a different SATA cable. I've had those die on me before.

that one is the smoking gun

Even if your mobo stopped talking to the drive , the drive should still be able to
power cycle the drawer

Try a different PSU , see how you go

Do you have a multi meter by any chance , you could check the voltages coming from the PSU

Biting the bullet defeats the purpose of the front USB3.0 ports all together though, they should work with no issues. Front USB2.0 works as it should.

I've had a browse through the BIOS on several occassions for the various wake on features and not come accross anything :S

I will try another SATA cable later on today, although the drive should still open and close with just the power cable? Or does it need both power and SATA cable attached?

Smoking gun how so? Could it be the cause of the USB3.0 issues aswell?

How would I be able to check the voltages with a multi meter, where about on the PSU would I be probing/testing and safely lol?

Having re-read this I'm inclined to agree with lurkio - I'd swap out the power supply.

You're correct that the drive tray should still open with only the power attached. It'll be either PSU or motherboard related and as the motherboard is new and the power supply isn't, is made by CWT and plenty of people have had problems with Corsair PSUs, added to your USB 3 issues leads me to point the finger at the power supply

**********UPDATE 24/10/15************

So I just upgraded my PSU to this:
SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 750W Fully Modular "80 Plus Platinum" Power Supply - Black

If I'm being honest it was coming anyway, with the modular connections etc... and overall its much more tidy + increased wattage, "80 Plus platinum" rating and 5 year warranty.

Unfortunately I am still hearing the hardware disconnect/reconnect sounds and the front usb3.0 ports do not work........ does this mean its a faulty motherboard even though its less than 3-4 months old?

Has the optical drive issue been resolved?

It very seldom happens and is hard to monitor - even before the replacement PSU and as far I am aware is yet to happen with the new PSU being installed, I will keep an eye on it.

Is there anyway to monitor what is causing the hardware disconnect/reconnect sounds? surely there must be a log somewhere that records what is going in terms of I/O for these sounds to take place?
