Hey all,

Just thought I would post and ask are many people still using Windows XP on their high spec computers and if so why?

I upgraded to Vista about 6 months after its release and have never looked back, drivers are fine nowadays and everything runs smooth.

I remember there was a lot of hate for Vista on its release from a lot of people who wouldnt even try it, just wondered if that was still the case.

I'm using XP as after trying everything Vista hangs at "Completing Installation" everytime I install it now, despite working on the exact same hardware months ago and after trying multiple discs.

My Laptop with a 5400RPM drive installs it perfectly fine with the same DVD, it's starting to annoy me really.

XP does me for now but I am missing Vista, organizing the start menu alphabetically is so annoying on XP! Vista did it automatically. :p

I have XP on the HTPC, not going to change that. Vista on the main PC... but spend most of the time on the Mac to be honest, so much nice to use!

Still running XP, have dabbled with Vista on the gaming PC but a show stopping error (couldn't run or install programs because UAC went mad) brought about by playing with vLite too much brought that to an end.

Vista runs great on my Macbook though :)

xp 64 on my own pc and xp 32 on the other pcs use vista on the sisters laptop but thats only because there are no xp drivers for the wifi.

my reasons being i prefer the way xp feels, while vista has nice features like gpu acceleration i dont like its new cute looking way of working i find xp much more efficient to do the same tasks

Gave up on xp ages ago, found out xp64 never really got finished....

Still really like vista, despite finally getting some spyware and having to pleb about making my pc a little bit slower :(

i'm on xp pro 64 bit. I am temped by vista, but i dont like the extra ram useage from vista, plus i cant really justify spending 140 quid on it. I like how they say its safer then xp, yet i have been on this install nearly a year and havnt had to format and not have 1 virus, since i installed it.

Whats the vista 64 bit home version like. its about half the price of the ultimate.

still on xp dont want to change tried vista didn't liked it my self and the features in vista are no needed for me so im still with XP

when i go to 4 gig of ram ill give it a go. Can you turn off all the sparkly stuff, like you can with xp? I hope so. I just want to see what directx 10 is like tbh ...

I built mine about a year ago (check sig) went with xp as I new it well and was reading loads of bad reviews about vista .

The original plan was to get a 2nd hard drive with vista and dual boot but never felt the need .

Run Vista (x64) on my main (Gaming/Apps) PC (sig)

Vista (x32) on an oldish nx5000 1.6 Pentium M Laptop, albeit with 2GB Ram. Runs very well, although its used mostly for external ftp/torrents/travelling.

Still run XP on the HTPC...
