Many still using XP?

I built mine about a year ago (check sig) went with xp as I new it well and was reading loads of bad reviews about vista .

The original plan was to get a 2nd hard drive with vista and dual boot but never felt the need .

Are you honestly serious, you never got Vista because of what you read on the internet. Some people online make Vista sound like its a totally unusable OS, for me that's reallt unfair as its a good (on x64 IIS takes a bit of tweaking to get working - classic ASP not activated by defalt???!!!).

For me, Vista x64 here. Have XP Pro installed too on multiboot, but haven't loaded that up for months and months. Only program I couldn't get working in Vista was flash media server, so had to fall back to XP for that :(

It definately goes to show that you can't bash vista unless you've given it a good go, as I was a hater for a while too :)

i don't hate vista at all

on my gaming machine i'm still using XP64, as i only have a 8800gt, so need to squeeze every last drop out of DX9 :), since it can't really handle DX10

i have Vista on my work and Media pcs

When I was still running Windows, I had XP x64 on. Didn't see the point in shelling out the money for Vista when I was planning on moving my setup over to Ubuntu anyway - any Windows software and games that I use/play work perfectly well under Wine. I might go for Windows 7 on a separate HDD when it comes out though - friend of mine is running one of the leaked betas and it seems pretty nice.

Never had any problems with Vista and have had it loaded since October 2007.

I have one of my workshop PCs with XP so I can provide ongoing support as not many PCs that come to me are Vista.

Im still running XP Pro 32bit on my main rig and I dual boot XP Pro and Vista Ultimate on my laptop, to be honest, I never log into the vista account, XP runs so much better on my laptop and I'm far more used to the layout and workings of XP to take Vista seriously, plus with W7 around the corner, I dont see it being worth the money, time or effort to change.

I mainly use Linux (Kubuntu), but have Vista installed on my gaming rig and have never looked back. I don't think it's worth upgrading a current XP install, but if you need a buy a new copy of windows I see little reason not to get Vista, it's a better OS. And I hate that pre-school blue theme of XP. Yeah I know you can change it, but still, what were they thinking.

Im using XP Pro. I want to upgrade, but im not sure whether to go for Vista now or hold out for Windows 7.

My computer is fairly new so it should be able to handle them both pretty easy.

I had to replace my ("Vista ready") motherboard and wait for SP1 before I could get Vista to behave itself. But now I've been running it for quite a few months without any issues.

I certainly prefer it to XP.

XP Pro here. I only use my PC for gaming and web browsing though, I use OSX for everything else.

I tried Vista64 for 6 months, during which time the disk continually kept thrashing, drove me mad. I tried to launch a game one day and it refused, even though it was working fine the day before. It also refused point blank to show SP1 as an option in windows update (legit copy BTW). So, I reinstalled XP and haven't looked back since.

Not a Vista hater by a long-shot, I liked a lot of things about it, but I won't be installing a new OS until Windows 7. From what I hear, it sounds like Vista with a lot of the annoyances ironed out.

I'm still running XP. I have nothing against upgrading to Vista at some point but XP does everything I need for now so why bother :)

Still have it on my laptop, but switched my main rig to vista when it came out. Wouldn't dream of going back.

I've never used it. :o

Last year, I went from 2K Pro to Vista SP1 on my work rig, which runs a couple of mission critical apps that I am reluctant to run under Wine / a VM.

My leisure rig runs this.

XP 32bit, only because I don't want to fork out extra for Vista when I have an XP license. I'll probably skip Vista completely and pick up Windows 7.
