Many still using XP?

Still on XP but will go over to 7 for DX10 / DX11 gaming if the RAM usage isnt as severe as Vista. Alythough i could just use more that 2GB :p.

I really don't understand why people think Vista uses so much RAM, especially when you have in excess of 2GB.

Perhaps so from all the press thats about and it may well apply to some businesses, but not all. Developers need to move forward with platforms, otherwise no one would be writing apps for it or for 7.
A lot of businesses are dependent on strange inhouse legacy apps for which the original developer has long since vanished and which won't work on Vista.

Plus the average business PC is a few years old and won't run it particularly well, and whilst the average business user may literally not know which way up a PC goes, they do notice if it runs even a smidgen slower than it did yesterday.

That's not Vista being carp, it's you being uninformed.

Vista's RAM usage is a good thing. Google superfetch.

im still using XP, not got any kind of dislike against vista, i just kept telling my self i'd get vista when i next upgrade but that has been a long time comming now. but left it so late im thinking of just jumping onto W7

I havent really used XP on my main PC since Vista was released. Never found Vista that bad, yes it wasnt super quick when I only had 1GB ram but it's fine now I've got 2GB.

Although I use XP on the netbook but I dont see any reason to run XP on a fairly good spec machine with 2GB+ ram, I think people were put off by the Vista early days or are just going off hearsay.
