Many still using XP?

Vista 64bit since release.

Loads faster, more stable, better looking, better everything then xp.

Can not for the life of me understand anyones reasons for sticking with xp, its like saying cassette tapes are better then high definition mp3's.

Stripped down XP on my PC. Would never go to Vista altho i use it a lot on my house mates quad core for rendering.

It is ok, but i just wouldn't change. I like what i like and i know what i like so!

I would rather go on my Mac any day though, so simple and clean and nice to use!

I run XP. TBH, no real need for me to upgrade to Vista just for upgrades sake - DX10 isnt all that really! +, now that 7 is on the way i will wait for that and see.

If its a lot better than XP ill change then.

xp mce didnt work as well as vista htpc

I am almost jealous of people who keep xp on their htpc.
I had mce2005 and it frooze if the freeview signal dropped below a certain level, usually the day after I went on holiday having programmed 2 weeks of recordings.
Put vista on the new build and its works no problems,
It will recover without a reboot
For a family use htpc ?
vista ***

Still going strong on my old laptop and my newer NC10. Don't see any need for a new os at the mo I'm more likely to go over to something newer when I upgrade if I ever do.

I bought Vista 32 and came up against the atikmdag error on a fresh install, i tried everything to sort it but nothing helped.

I am now running XP 64 with no problems so i will be sticking with XP until Windows 7.

Still running xp on all my 4 systems, I have no need to upgrade to vista really.

I don't really play any games that need vista or run better with it. I don't really have much time to learn about it either so i'll stick to XP. :)

Yeah i'll give it that it looks nice, but so does Apple's OS's but never been interested in them either.

no its not lol........ some ppl simply wont have a decent enough system to run vista as smoothly as they can xp.

i dual boot between xp/vista...i keep all my apps on vista and play games on xp.

vista gives me stability and security

xp gives me speed.

now i know some ppl find vista to be just as fast and im not going to call them liars because it doesnt happen on my machine.
i guess it comes down to hardware sometimes...and vista just isnt quite as responsive for me even with 2gb ram & a decent cpu.

I'm still running XP. I have nothing against upgrading to Vista at some point but XP does everything I need for now so why bother :)

+1

plus I'm still sure some of my older softwares wont run on vista and theres no chance of the manufacturer adding drivers to make it work :)

I'm still on XP because of 2 reasons:

-My computer meets Vista's requirements, but in relation to XP isnt as fast. This isn't Vista's fault, but i would rather use Vista on a machine that takes advantage of the hardware, rather than pushing older hardware onto a newer OS.
-Audio creation software isnt coded well for Vista. XP yields massive performance increases over Vista at the moment.

Hey all,

Just thought I would post and ask are many people still using Windows XP on their high spec computers and if so why?

I upgraded to Vista about 6 months after its release and have never looked back, drivers are fine nowadays and everything runs smooth.

I remember there was a lot of hate for Vista on its release from a lot of people who wouldnt even try it, just wondered if that was still the case.

Sam

I don't have it because XP gives me everything I need.

It's expensive and very time consuming to format and reinstall :( who want's to do that for no reason?

Now another version of windows is in testing I deffo won't be upgrading anytime soon.

What does it do that XP can't?

BTW my XP runs in classic mode with no themes.

vista 64-bit here, i've yet to use a quicker system (i assume it's thanks to superfetch), it even gives ubuntu a run for it's money

I'm not gonna be a fan boy like everyone ele and get vista

Unreal.

If you're in the IT business you have to move with the times or get left behind. Thats a bit like saying oh I wont go to school or do an MCSE because everyone else does...
Businesses and jobs look for people with the latest skills and experience if you're in the field, plus you need Vista to run RSAT for 2008 so you cant just choose to stay put sometimes.
I had to know XP and Vista like I will have to know 7 and Server 2008 and everything else that comes out.
I digress. Anyway I still prefer XP Pro and have Vista on netbook, though in hindsight, I would have waited until 7 if it wasnt for work etc... I would stick with whatever my apps work fine on as its more about what apps I use than what OS it is.
