March Budget 2016

Hahaha, I love the way now he is talking about the debt in absolute terms instead of the usual % to GDP - as he always has done before - because in % terms it's higher now :p

Who mentioned moving the goalposts earlier? :)

That's because GDP isn't as high as expected so borrowing against forecast would look like it's gone up, whereas it's actually £9bn lower, which is the important point.

Oh I know that, but he didn't afford Labour the same concession when the economy tanked after the Global recession and our GDP plummeted....they were all crowing about the huge Debt to GDP ratio then

richs 1% pay 28% but how much wealth do they own in proportion to the rest. if they own 60% but only pay 28% then its very low.
so 99% of the population pay 72% but own 20% of the wealth.

Do they ever get these forecasts right? I know it must be hard but I lose count of the revisions down and up :p

£10bn surplus in the last year, now that's a cast iron guarantee right there.

When the crisis came our debt rose my 110% of debt, pre 2008 it was 40% after 2008 it hit 90%.

It's not £9bn lower, it's £9bn lower than the forecast. But absolute debt numbers are almost completely meaningless. The thing that matters is debt-to-GDP because this reflects our real ability to repay.

Make no mistake, this is yet another missed target from Osborne no matter which way he spins it.

If your poor your shafted

If you are middle income, you are shafted

If you are Rich... Here take more tax relief. You can now go on more holidays and take that money out of the UK to spend having a good time somewhere else apart from the UK.

This Government is actually worse than Thatcher, the twisted ideology of the neo-cons will now break Britain and will take decades to recover from.

Labour are a joke and offer no credible alternative apart from falling over on there back putting there legs in the air and begging for the belly to be tickled.

The lib-dems should be here now filling the void with sense yet due to Mr Clegg getting shafted by the conservatives (outplayed big time) They are dead party.

The nasty party is here without restraint. It will hurt everyone unless you are well off. They disgust me to the core. British politics is a mess and needs a significant overhaul. Buts its OK, London can get more infrastructure, so all is well.

Credit where credit is due: he's sticking to the 0.7% international development budget commitment, and extending the very sensible changes to stamp duty to commercial property.

Didn't we have a load of referendums over City mayors in which the people rejected them in a host of cities? Is Osborne cheerfully ignoring them?
