March Competition (B&W) Voting

mrk for me... The scene for me had everything. A full range of shades and pinpoint sharp textures. I will get around to writing somethingfor everybody (the whole reason I enter the competitions is for the critique).

Ok let's get the vote in before the deadline, I vote for mrk.

Monochrome is all about texture and form. This image has it spades. I almost expect to touch the screen and feel the rough texture of those seat cushions. The metallic overhead luggage rack offers an interesting contrast and holds in the top of the composition in and the whole thing sits on 'a heavy,' base provided by the shadows thrown by the seats. I initially thought the window could have benefited from a slight local expose adjustment as there is danger of leaving a bright empty space in the centre of the frame but there is very little room for adjustment because if the view through the window gains much more detail there is risk that the outside view would fight with the interior which what the author wanted us to look at.

I'll try and get back later this week with some comments and observations for some of the other images - I've just run outa time this week.

But do agree they are both a little dark especially after seeing the other entries.

Well my vote goes to...

King4aDay - Love the cloud like texture of the water there and the surreal feel to the photo.

2nd Andy90 - The shot makes me feel like being there wasting hours just enjoying the view and contemplating.
3rd Zogger - Love the off centre composition and how I'm drawn into what appears to be the never ending depths of the rose.

Congrats mrk, and all others who entered too. Really good to see so many enter the new competition.

I'm struggling with shutter speed already, but there are 20 days remaining...!
 
Ah awesome, I have been updating a post reply for here the past 2 days and got sidetracked :o - Thanks again for the votes all! I definitely agree the new theme is going to be tough :D
