marrying your cousin?!

Only a couple of generations ago marrying your cousin was a lot more common. There is a very small increase in the risk of genetic abnormality in offspring. As to hemophillia that mutation arises in elderly fathers and is then passed on via the female line till it dies out. Its got nothing to do with consanguinity.

Consanguinity is good for the gene pool, it removes bad genes.

TBH

Deliverance lol...

1st counsin marriages aren't uncommon in Pakistan, quite a few of the guys at uni have parents that are first cousins, and they're trying to set them up with their own cousins to marry them off. It doubles your risk of congenitive birth defects though, and the effect must be cumulative, kind of scary.

It may be illegal to marry your sister, but can you legally get them pregnant?

Not that I ever would.

I don't even have a sister, for a start.

This issue has been fully explored in sitcoms such as Arrested Development and cartoons such as The Simpsons.

Common occurence in pakiland.

Some of my cousins are married to each other

I'd never go that route, and my dad would never encourage it either. He once told me if anyone asked to get married to me he'd chuck that family out the house :p
