I thnik the novelty would wear off pretty damn fast when the reality and finality of the situation truly sets in.
I'm all for one getting knocked up there! Natural birth to the extreme, no doctors to help you then...
I'm guessing one of the first four will be a doctor, at least one an engineer/technician and one a scientist to oversee any experiments etc.
I guess so. They'll have 7 years of training to get that drummed into them at least.
Tbh, in this case, mentally strong could also equal mental depending on how you look at it.
The price they pay for being pioneers is a life sentence in confined quarters on a barren rock.
Still, worked out fine for those guys on LV-426![]()
The ones who are chosen to go will have to be strong minded and fully understand what they're letting themselves in for and what will be coming. They'll know before they go that they'll be living alone on a desolate planet for the rest of their lives with no prospect of returning. The people who would go nuts when they finally realized what they let themselves in for won't be going.
I'd just hope that if I was stuck with three others I didn't like, that I was to finish the journey like Prometheus, except to earth, not the next planet![]()
I don't see how people can make that type of show from this. It's a science mission!?
Ingenious way to raise necessary funding though

"Day 657 in the big brother Martian house, Alex has run out of oxygen!", no thanks.
Imagine if you had to procreate with a minger.
I'm guessing they're going to try and start a colony - but man, looking up/down/at the earth wouldn't you think, I wonder what's going on back on earth? Being stuck on a desolate rock for potentially decades (if all goes well and you survive) sounds like hell to me.
I think you either have to have nothing to live for on earth, or be so dedicated to science and exploration that you would sing up to this. Both brave and tragic at the same time.
i dont belive the mission timeframe extends to decades.
