Martin O'Neill resigns

Absolutely gutted. Probably sick and tired of all this Milner debacle, after Barry's shambolic departure last season and Young probably on his way too. Did well for us, can't see anyone being as good as he was for us. :(

Bad timing. Always had Randy Lerner down as one of the good guys but there must have been a falling out of something fairly big.

Possibly, but we are in a new era where money is cheap and the likes of Man City's who are bullying other clubs out of their best players. I'm sure O'Neill knows this as frustrating as it is. We [Spurs] have suffered for this in years even as recently as Wilson Palacios .. There has to be something else to this..

He was very close to winning a cup for Villa last season too. A shame but maybe he will go back to his MOTD slot, I always thought he was a decent bloke.

Must be something to do with the Milner scenario, no doubt hes probably reached the end of his tether after the Barry fiasco last season. I've always rated him as a manager and he has done ever so well at Villa. Hope he manages to find another job at a decent club, seems a nice guy.

Damnit...if we had waited we could have had him instead of Roy Hodgson. :(

Big blow to Villa that, last thing you need mere days before the start of the season.

Has he really done that well at Villa? I mean he's been good yeah, but basically done no better than Moyes, whilst spending loads more cash.

EDIT: Ok, looking at the stats, maybe not "loads" more, but still a fair bit. I'm not saying I don't rate him at all, he's definitely good. Just not great.

He's quite a nice man, bumped in to him when he was at Leicester.

Thought he's probably taken Villa (given their squad) about as far as he could.

I didn't see his coming, wonder where he will go?

I'm guessing to Sky to be a pundit for a bit and wait and see what vacancies crop up over the course of the season. Mancini to not achieve much with City and O'neill to replace him? I fancy sticking a bet on that right now
