Marvel Studios: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

I think wandavison did much better with the dialogue, and the ‘show dont tell’ aspect. This show was a lot weaker in that regard, and honestly felt a little out of place compared to some of the dialogue we have in the films (apart from the light comedic moment)... I’m not sure why.

Also, hey now Zeno was well done. So was the Vulture.
I loved Wanda right up to the final two. Just turned into a cage fight and ruined it for me. Had so much promis and intrigued to fall flat with pretty awful ending.

Zeno was cool but they packed him off :/

I disagree, the way the two Vision's fighting was resolved unique and great

Plus I really liked that Vision, despite what his own personal danger, knew that the people came first (both in the scene were he breached the barrier and the ultimate finale). It really made him feel like a hero.

I think WandaVision gave two lesser explored Avengers a great chance to shine... this show didn't quite hit those levels for Sam and Bucky but hopeful that its laying the building blocks for more to come.

Good lord some of you people get upset of some ridiculous stuff.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, I'm fine with 'good' shows given how many terrible ones there are out there. Looking forward to more MTU.

You want ham-fisted race-related storylines, look at the current season of Grey's Anatomy, I don't think they angle taken in this was problematic at all, it is their story to tell after all, if it makes some white dudes uncomfortable, well boo-hoo. :p

I find this such a strange take whenever anyone complains about race or gender related topics in film and TV. Its opinions like this that support the creation of lazy, politics driven **** is being churned out constantly now.

For as long as I can remember, there have been top quality shows that deal with issues of race, gender, religion, politics and every other issue under the sun. Do you know why people don't complain about them? Because they are done well and some idiot isn't basically looking into the camera and giving us an on the nose, completely ham-fisted admonishment of the state of X in society.

What really winds people up is when a show they have loved for decades does this and they stop enjoying something they once loved because its become a poorly written politicised pile of crap.

"White dudes" don't care that there are more women and black actors in leading roles, they care when shows are being used to push agendas with no writing or directing talent. They care when crap directors and screenwriters are getting given big projects simply because they push the right buttons rather than due to their talent in crafting compelling content.

well from what i read somewhere falcon and the winter soldier has been put in the a drama category for an award, where wandavision has been put in as a limited series. so going by this it suggest that FatWS will possible get another season where wandavision suggest if it get another season it most likely be some point in the future

Think they are talking about Capital America 4 now. Mixed feelings about
Captain Falcon
, personally think it's not the same so hopefully it get better. Bucky imo would have been the better choice without too much tinkering to the storyline.

Mackie isn't a great actor and Falcon is just a generally junk superhero. Buckie would have been the natural choice IMO. All depends on the story, directors etc however. It might be good.

Surprise surprise, the usual posters are annoyed with a show that deals with some quite basic real world race issues in a superhero (fantasy) TV Show...

Falcon has never been my favourite MCU character. It just always feelt like he was pretty vunerable when you have the likes of Ironman and War-machine in their suits. The show was 'ok'. It had some great moments and some pretty terrible ones (the whole Madripoor episode was a low point IMO)

But do I object to him as Captain America going forward? No. He's unlikely to have a 'Cap catches Mjolnir' moment ever but maybe we'll get a season 2 or another movie?

It was better than a lot of the Netflix marvel dirge.

Hear Hear!

Can't even watch Superhero films without politics coming into it.

I enjoyed the Critical Drinkers take on it I always find his stuff insightful and funny. I still enjoyed the show though, I agreed with what he said but it didn't make it a bad show just not a great one. I'll be happy to watch another season of it as Cap and the Winter Soldier

As far as i'm aware all these series are one-offs that are supposed to setup future MCU movies. I don't think we're going to get a season 2 of anything.

Also bear in mind that filming halted and production was shutdown during the pandemic, and that (apparently) they had to re-write the villians after already shooting half of it, as their original plan was to release a deadly virus.

Wandavision certainly gave off that vibe. As Brookert says, without the MCU tie in most of these series wouldn't be so well received. Wandavision was weak as hell until the last 2-3 episodes and they weren't mind blowingly good either. I think they were just exceptional in comparison to the previous ones.

Loki looks like it could be really good but cutting together a nice little trailer isn't hard when they have the production value of Marvel studios.

I honestly think Endgame wasn't a good movie and was almost entirely propped up by the good will and emotional involvement people have in the MCU.

The point that resonated with me from that drinkers reviews is that the end title cards said “Captain America and the Winter Solider”… despite the whole point of Bucky’s character arc being that he’s NOT the winter solider anymore! Doh.
