Mass Effect 3

Now, to my point. ALL of the characters in ME2 were affected significantly by your decisions, they either lived or died. Which brings me to the question; will any of them feature in ME3 AT ALL? If making a characters life/relationship hang in the balance in ME1 meant having them only as a cameo in ME2, what does that mean for all of the characters in ME3? I can't see them recording an entire games worth of dialogue for characters that might be dead before the game even started.

I sincerely hope they don't go the same route as ME2 and just make it so they all die and Cerberus choose to reincarnate a set few, thus allowing them to plan the storyline around them better. It was slightly cheap in ME2 (though i'll forgive it cos it worked), but to have it for the entire cast of characters seems a bit... lame. But then i can't really think of another way of making it so that they KNOW which characters are alive at the beginning of the game.

This is my biggest concern. I saved all of my crew in ME2, but I can't help but feel none of them are going to remain as main characters for three, because they could have died.

I suspect a lot of them will have bit parts like Wrex whenever you interact with certain parties, but could easily be replaced with a generic new character that takes their dialogue.

Can't really understand why it's in London though, hopefully they've made improvements from ME2

I suspect that your ME2 team will have disbanded to go back to their various races in order to help co-ordinate attacks on the Reapers.

That's what i picture too. In the final battle i imagine there being groups of enemies that will/won't appear due to who you've saved over your time. So for example:

Joker: Hey sheps, there's some dudes coming, look sharp

Shep: mmmk

Joker: Oh shep, Taali just showed up with some of her people and owned em, so now you only have to fight one colossus instead of two, yay us!

Shep: pwned

Joker: Oh and, cos you nailed her, she just killed another one with her mad Quarian libido.

Shep: \o/

As I said before, there is nothing to suggest this takes place in London, it's just a teaser trailer.

Most likely EA contracted a London based VFX studio to create this trailer, given that the character is also British and probably agreed with them to set it in London.

If anything though, the most obvious place they could have been destroying is New York.... how many times have we seen that before though?

I hope too many people out there aren't assuming its in London alone. Earth in general will be one of the key planets to be attacked, given that after the events of ME1, humans were one of the main races to elevate to power in the galaxy.

I'm sure I saw a collector in that trailer, as the soldier took aim with his sights. Couldn't stand them in ME2...

Still its all early days.

Just looked like an infected human to me? Was really ganlgly whereas the collectors were quite... compact.

But yes, the collectors were naff. Geth were far better adversaries.

Man.... Was browsing the net and went oh nice, Portal 2 trailer... then Saw ME3 and Elder Scrolls V and sat gigling for ages, and been happy all day, best news of the year for me :D.

Jcb33.

That brings me to my next question.

Will actions from previous games play a part in the part 3?

Do you think the attack on Earth is avoidable?

Yes, but small parts (see above for my reasoning)

No, i feel it will be the setpiece of the game. I imagine your previous efforts will help affect the damage done in the attack, but the attack will occur regardless of what you've done. In fact i believe the attack to occur near the beginning of the game.

Complete accident but i'll take the credit nonetheless!

The overall story in both ME1+2 is linear, but that's what made for them to be good stories. ME2 suffered however as they allowed too much of the game to have the illusion of 'free-roam' (it wasn't really, you just had a choice of which order to do things or whether you'd do them at all) which made the beginning and middle of the story seem all too long and muddled, and the epic conclusion feel rushed and all too short.

At the end of the day though, you can't tell a good story without a healthy dose of linearity. I just feel that character development suffered significantly in some cases in the name of 'making your own choices'. I'd rather have a good, fleshed out crew that had a set fate than a group of guys with a token bit of backstory/history with your character with which you could choose what to do with like a little plaything.

I see.

Should still be a great game. I hope it comes out a few months after ME2 on the ps3.

I can see it being "traipse round the galaxy, recruiting races to help fight the Reapers". After all, most of the galactic civilization are unaware of the Reaper threat, thinking the Citadel attack to be the geth.

So off you go to the Hanar homeworld, the Elcor homeworld, the Rachni homeworld etc.

Seems strange that PS3 only owners will be able to play (well sorta) the whole ME trilogy in a one year, while the rest of us had to wait 4 years to play the 3 games lol.

PS3 peeps aren't getting Mass Effect 1. Just an interactive comic to generate the variables for ME2.

Did you do a ninja edit then, smalls? :D

I still think the PS3 version will come up slightly short - there are so many characters in ME1 that make an appearance in ME2. I can't see how they can make them appear in ME2 if you haven't played ME1 to meet them.

Nope just my super ninja skillz made you think that i did :p
Im going to get ME2 on PS3 just to see how ME1 is handled, and all the the DLC being included for free. Maybe this time i wont spend like 20 hrs of my 52 scanning poxy planets getting resources that i never used or needed lol.
