Just finished Mass Effect!

No big deal I hear you all saying but with this being a new Pc I'm playing on it's the 1st 'recent' game I've been able to play. To be honest I don't think I've enjoyed a game this much in my life and this includes Half Life, WoW, EVE and Hidden & Dangerous.

I've got a Few of questions I'd like to get your opinions on please:

I played 33 hours and I'm lvl 47. Have I seen most of the game?
I tried to get as much of the content seen as possible, I'm sure I've not explored every corner of the galaxy but I've done a fair bit and completed every mission and assignment I could find(apart from the gathering assignments).

I've got a couple of games to play Fallout 3 and The Witcher, I'd like to play them but I loved Mass Effect so much I'm just so tempted to buy ME2 and play that straight away. When you played ME2 did you find that having a break between the 1st & 2nd made you forget some of what when on, or would I get the most out of it by diving straight into ME2

Out of the two games that I've got to play which did you enjoy the most The Witcher or Fallout 3?

Thanks.

Play through again and you get more powerful weapons and content and enemies are harder etc (shotgun with explosive projectiles ***!!!)

I think i played it through like 4 times with the same character in the end back on the 360 :)

TBH once you've done the main mission and the main side missions you've done most of the game worth bothering with. Theres a ton of sideline rubbish but most of its just pointless grind with little payoff. Tho theres the odd stranded freighter hidden around some solar systems thats kinda cool to play through, etc.

Not played ME2, but to answer your second question: they're completely different games, and it's difficult to compare them saying one is better than the other.

To me The Witcher feels a lot more linear, and you're more limited in terms of combat/customisation; e.g. you have a sword and some spells (the different stances don't make much difference in how you fight, and the other weapons aren't really worth bothering with), however personally I feel the story is a lot better.

With Fallout 3, you have all the different weapons; you can customise your "talents" a lot more - it also feels a lot more free-roaming, but the main story quest isn't as long as The Witcher.

Play through them both IMO, both very good games :)

Thanks for the replies :)

Whats the max level you can reach and do you get anything special if you max out and carry your guy through to the 2nd game?

Do you get to carry your weapons & armour through to the 2nd game? I got all the special spectre weapons, lvl VII & IX mods and a set of Colossus VIII armour.

You get a bonus for importing a character into ME2. Something like some ore (used for building upgrades) and an experience bonus.

The weapon/inventory system in ME2 is completely different. You have the same gun/s throughout, but can purchase upgrades with elemental ores you gain from mining planets (this is done instead of the planetary landing in ME1, no more exploring in the Mako).

Get ME2 and play it now whilst the storyline is fresh in your memory. GOGOGOGO! (minor warning: the controls are slightly different, interacting and the power menu keys are different, cover system is different, once you get used to the changes and get into the story it's great though! :D)

I thought all the side quests were terrible, so if you have finished the game, then yes, you have seen the game. I was disappointed that you could set the game to hard from the start, as I see that as the only reason to replay - too easy on the settings you can access before completing once.

I'd say jump right in with ME2. You can import your character for it if you customised him/her- and the choices you made in 1 will affect 2.

I was in the exact same boat as you, first game I completed on my new PC - don't regret going straight to ME2.

How did you find it? Great start thena terrible grind in the middle then a slowly building snowball of an ending whcih ended up great.

Given the level you have achieved, and time played, I would say you probably have seen most of the content in ME1. Sure, you may have missed out on a side mission or two, but they aren't vital to the main story. If I were you I would purchase ME2 and play that next - it doesn't take too long to complete, and it helps having the "story" fresh in your mind from having recently played ME1.

As for Fallout 3 and The Witcher - the latter is the best single player RPG in recent memory, in my opinion. That would be my next choice after completing ME1/2. Remember to get The Witcher : Director's Edition/ Enhanced version though - is more polished than the original in terms of dialogue & bug fixing.

Loved every minute of it to be honest, even driving the Mako was amusing.

Started off well, then left you to do your own thing, which I loved. I wanted to see as much of the game as I could, so I tried to find as many side quests as possible.

Loved the different team choices, my favorite combo was Ashley(always took her along for pure combat) and then usually Garrius as a sniper/tech.

Like you and everyone else said the ending was great

As we speak ME2 is winging it's way towards my house, I actually ordered it last night.

I don't have as much time to play through games these days, but made the effort with ME2 and wasn't dissapointed. Really enjoyed it.

ME2 is an awesome experience, probably one of the most impressively realised games I've played. No reason not to jump stragiht into it, I'm planning another playthough soon with the DLC.

As for The Witcher, I'm a big RPG fan, but I'm struggling to really enjoy this. I don't feel the characters have any real personality, there's practically no itemisation, levelling up stats seems to make very little noticable improvement, the combat is quite dire and so far (Chapter 3) the story hasn't grabbed me at all.
I'll stick it out to the end, I'm sure, but I was expecting something pretty epic from what I was told previously (and maybe thats the problem...hype!)

Found the game rather dull and boring, tbh. Think I'm still suffering from post-KOTOR syndrome. :(

No RPG I've really played since has equalled it. Except perhaps VtM:B.

60 is max level I think but you can only get to 50 on first playthrough afaik (well I stopped gaining XP at 50).

I think I started at like level 3 instead of 1 for hitting 50. I think I also got extra resources and paragon/renegade points. Also got some extra starting cash for reaching being a 'rich character in ME1.
