Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include single-player base content and DLC from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, plus promo weapons, armors, and packs - all remastered and optimized for 4k Ultra HD. It will be available in Spring 2021 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with forward compatibility and targeted enhancements on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. More information to come in the new year!

Mass effect 1 & 2 were fantastic will be looking forward to playing them in new shiny graphics

I hope its a serious update and not just a cash grab that essentially achieves the same outcome as the mods that are available currently.

If so, sign me up, easily some of my fondest memories in gaming was playing Mass Effect trilogy and progressing the story, following the characters etc.

Mass Effect 1 still my favourite of the series. I'll never forget it. I started playing it not knowing anything about it, and was instantly captivated by it....i just couldn't put it down night after night. The bit when you make Spectre near the start pulled me in 100% and never let me go until the end of ME3. We don't talk about Androneda lol.

From the looks of it, this does nothing much that existing mods do already - though having the entire series+dlc and all that crap in one bundle is a bonus in itself.

I first played ME1 on the 360 and that was it - best game of the series period. The music, characters, inventory management along with the RPG factor was hugely enjoyable. Think I re-played it about 5 times! ME3 despite the ending was equally as good - excellent gunplay, music and fantastic MP that I played for months on end. I never did try the reworked ME3 ending - as far as I was concerned they had ruined one of the greatest computer game scifi stories and nothing was going to change that.

Same, it was my first xbox console, got ME1 off a mate a month or so after that having no idea what the game was. What a journey it took me on.

And also you share my exact thoughts, I could have wrote exactly what you said there.

I think I played it through 10+ times with each character, different romances, hardcore modes the lot to get 1000 xbox achievements which I think I did do. That took a lot of playthroughs.

lol same. I can't recall how many classes ME1 had but I remember playing them all because there was so many things to do on every replay. Think I maxxed out the acheivements too as I was into that sort of thing back then!

Shame about the end, but the first two were two of my top games of all time. ME1 did such a fantastic job of setting up the scene, the story, making you feel ‘cool’. It was a true masterpiece.

About as disappointing as I thought it was going to end up; basically a re-release for consoles but below PC modded versions. Such a shame that a wonderful franchise is getting such poor treatment from the parent companies. It also means a proper remastered edition is even further away now - maybe 10 years? Bleah.

I don't think there's going to be many surprises with this remaster. It'll be a straight forward affair with no added excitement.

The one shining hope I'm holding onto is that they fix ME1's list of problems because it's such an incredible experience beside the jankyness: UI, inventory, combat, enemy AI, texture streaming, loading issues etc, etc. If they fixed these things along with a nice new coat of paint, I'll honestly be thrilled. The other 2 games are fine as they are really, though I'd love to see them expand character customisation, like more armour and weapons for Shepard and the team throughout the game.

I'm not even going to mention the ending because there's no way they'll touch it at this point.

Bioware really, REALLY, need to do well by this otherwise they'll have gone beyond "disappointing" and entered joke meme territory (if they're not there already after Andromeda and Anthem). I'm not usually too thrilled about bigger companies acquiring studios and things but I genuinely think if Microsoft bought Bioware from EA they could save them with simply better management. I have zero expectations for whatever the next Mass Effect game will be because the company have offered nothing beyond Inquisition that was even remotely close to the quality they were once capable of.

We have to remember though that (someone correct me) the original team at BioWare no longer exist. I know the lead writer chap left long ago. How this all impacts this new remaster will be interesting.

Yeah modern day Bioware is nothing like the old Bioware that we grew to love with incredible titles such as KOTOR, Mass Effect and Dragon Age. That studio was full of talent, sadly it got EA'd.
