Mass Effect Legendary edition (Remastered 1,2 & 3)

Might give it a miss then, was expecting more than that. At least until I can pick it up on Steam for a tenner or less anyway as only interested in the first game. The other two just do not come close imo.

There better for sure just not much better just changing a resolution wont change a texture you need a higher resolution texture first, I would love to see the modder's go in and see if any have be ripped from mods.
Looking at it seems that mass effect 1 texture's are way better ( well it was made in 2007 so they where crap ) but looking at ME2 there not a massive difference.

On another note what worry's me is ME1 which they have done a lot of work on some how I bet they mucked it up but we will see.

It's a bit underwhelming. Apparently they thought about porting it over to Unreal Engine 4 but told reporters that it'd take too much work. So essentially what they've done is what modders did to the PC version years ago, i.e. controller support, better textures, shaders and high resolution support etc. but packaged them together, basic stuff.

With ME1 they've tweaked enemy AI and squad commands, which never worked in the original anyway, so they're more like fixes. They added a sleeker looking gameplay HUD which is nice, but here's the killer, they added "aim assist" to the combat. Basically instead of doing the needed necessary work to bring ME1 upto standard, they added aim assist which doesn't even pass for bare minimum. ME1's combat and inventory systems need heavy work, it's so off the charts janky that I can see people who buy the trilogy for the first time being like "this is the combat!?" and never playing again.

May 14th release, much later than I expected. I thought it'd be a mid-late March release.

Overall, I know it's cynical, but I'm underwhelmed. I hoped for one thing, just ONE stand out thing that would really sell it, but nope.

Being EA, this may well be a cash grab. Not sure if I will bother,as expect pricing to be steep. For something I have already played, I am not keen on spending too much cash on it.

I never bought ME3 after the knobs at EA decided they didnt want to release it on steam. Well that and BS ending anyway. But even if i had, it's just too expensive for me. Needs to be a lot more than a reskin for me to spend £40. I'll wait for bargina basement deals / gamepass or whatever, however long that takes. I wanted 3 years to play through ME3 on gamepass anyway :p

Same here. I have ME1 and 2 on steam, got ME2 on release due to how much I liked the first. They never got my money for the 3rd on though :D

So basically, you get the same effect playing the normal games with mods as buying this Legendary Edition ?? And if wanting Ultra Wide, then just install Flawless Widescreen ?? And save some monies for other games ?

Most of the big improvements in this remaster have been available via mods on PC for years. There are other differences but they're small things. Like the character customiser has a few more choices, Mako controls have been tweaked, the official default femshep is available from the first game on (I dont like it personally, she looks too cartoonish), sound has been upgraded somehow, and apparently the models have been improved. By how much it's hard to tell.

But the biggest reason, IMO, for getting the Legendary Edition is its plug and play simplicity. Modding ME1,2,3 was so tedious, you can do it, but it requires quite a bit of effort and time.

Personally I'm going to wait until it's on sale, if only for the sheer convenience it brings.

Quite the bunch of cynics etc and misplaced penny pinchers on this feed.

Demands for a remaster delivered to make sure consistency across the games, in a price far less than anyone who bought all three in the first place and making it far easier to achieve what most the mods did and then go beyond it in a universal package.

Think people were wanting a remake e.g. re2 levels of a re-doing in ea defence this is a remaster so it is mostly going to be polish

Remake / remaster aren't the same thing

Why shouldn't we be cynic's, mass effect one's is the only one that has any real work done to it, ME2 & ME3 are barely any difference from the originals which people have already got so at most I think the package is worth £40.
Second people are cynical because it is EA who on there last remaster ( Hot Pursuit Remastered ) which had almost zero done to it so why trust them as they have a history of putting as little effort in as possible.
Plus they have a track record of messing crap up.

Even in an ign talk about it they couldn't even get excited and that ign.

Maybe I'm just a Mass Effect Stan but I think I'll be very happy to pay the asking price to get all the games in one place and with all the DLC (annoyingly EA decided not to release ME3 om Steam so I have it on Origin)

£55 for a possible hundreds of hours entertainment? I'll take that.

Plus it's by far one of my favourite trilogies and if paying £55 means I get to team up with Garrus and punch a reporter in the face again, I'm in.

Didn't think much of the trailers and subsequent screenshots.

Had it come out 5 years ago as a remaster with what they've got on offer my view would be different.

I don't know who it's meant to be aimed at. I can't imagine 15 year olds today liking mass effect 1 for example
