Mass Effect: panel of uninformed journos babble on about video games

For anyone who missed it, the above Amazon link had 54 pages of "reviews" of her book by angry gamers who each gave it one star each.

Looks like all the reviews were pulled.

I picked up this book hoping for a witty and cogent defense of perfectionism, a value too often trashed these days by the prevailing "only human" crowd, but I was to be sorely, and nauseatingly disappointed. Put simply, the title of this book is not only misleading but an outright lie; nowhere within its (mercifully) few pages is the subject of perfection, or human personality for that matter, even hinted at. The work instead, being nothing more than a pack of the most sordid, lurid, and distasteful literary pornography one is ever likely to encounter. Dealing with the subjects of sodomy, incest, pedophilia, and even mild bestiality, this abominable book not only covers the gamut of mankind's vilest depredations but encourages their practice! Among children, no less!! Page after horrific page detailing the horrendous perversions of one despicable degenerate after another, and this from a book placed brazenly where anyone can see it! That such filth can even find a publisher in the United States, let alone be marketed so falsely, makes one weep for the future of this society.

Best review ever!

What a stupid woman.

Agreed, the trouble is she blatently did it for publicity and even bad publicity is publicity........ A small percentage of the World probably even think she is right and love her book. (I pitty the fools.)

And conclusion!
...Ms. Lawrence said that since the controversy over her remarks erupted she had watched someone play the game for about two and a half hours. "I recognize that I misspoke," she said. "I really regret saying that, and now that I've seen the game and seen the sex scenes it's kind of a joke.

"Before the show I had asked somebody about what they had heard, and they had said it's like pornography," she added. "But it's not like pornography. I've seen episodes of 'Lost' that are more sexually explicit."

Hope the Fox execs are feeling the pinch from this one. I wonder if Bioware/Mass Effect could sue for slander?

search enough and you'll find MSNBC saying that deadly toys and toxic food is good for us, and Fox claiming that the americans where the criminals at malmedy  oh lets not forget that 12yr old girls are 'sexy'..

Fox/Media at large harms the mental state far more than any game can do.
