never played this series on my xbox360.

if i was to start with mass effect 1 is it a decent game or is it not consiered as
good as 2 and 3 ?

feel like im missing out on a great franchise ?

PS: it's a role playing game isnt it ?
i loved fallout 3.

cheers.

Mass effect 1 is a great game and well worth playing, 1 and 2 are amazing and 3 is ok but as a trilogy it is a must play of this generation.

I preferred the more RPG elements of the first one. It's still hardly a 'pure' RPG, but the skills do have a lot more of an effect on how good your character is. The second is more of a shooter with some unlocks.

Not played the third yet. The second just didn't win me over enough to finish it (whereas I've played the first through about five times).

I prefer ME1 to ME2/3, the RPG elements are a lot richer in the first one than the rest. Story is incredible as well as a trilogy, definitely worth playing.

I had never played the first, but I did enjoy the second. I completed it in three or four sittings and enjoyed it, even though there were some parts which just felt tacked on and rubbish, the resource collecting for instance.

Yeah, I didn't think it was possible to have a sidequest minigame worse than driving the Mako (shudder), but they managed it somehow.

Definitely start with the first one. It is easily the best of the trilogy imo.

^ I loved the mako. It wasn't the mako that was the problem for me, it was the terrain, and you get used to it. Exploration was much missed from the other 2 games.

Start from the beginning. ME1 is more RPG like, ME2 and ME3 are more third person shooters.

ME1 is my personal favourite. It's my favourite trilogy of all time.

Be warned though that ME1 on consoles can chug at times, it wasn't very well optimised and the interface is a bit clumsy.

ME2 and 3 are much more refined.

ME1 easily has the best storyline however so it's worth persevering with.

ME1 was good, definately more RPG. and a bit slower to get going, but worth it! ME2 was also very epic (for me anyway's)

currently playing through ME3 now :) and really enjoying it!

its a shame its gotta end on a trilogy.. :( gutted..

ME1 is the best of the lot (one of the best games of this gen), ME3's is good and ME2 is there.
maybe it's the best game of the time when it was release, but there was a moments in the game where I was so bored with it.Additional missions in Citadel for example.

agreed some of the side missions in the citadel were a bit of a chore, i think i skipped over them :/

i thought the menu/weapon/armour system was a bit confusing too, but maybe thats just me!

1 was great, 2 is incredible , 3 was just ok. definitely play 1 and 2 , 3 you can get away with not playing since it doesnt really do anything worthy in either gameplay or story.

Same, though I do wish it handled more like Warthog from Galo :) I missed in ME2 and haven't played ME3 yet.

I am currently flicking through ME1 again in an attempt to play all 3 back to back. Think I prefer ME1 to ME2 however
