Mass effect worth a dabble?

It's worth playing through once or twice. But on the second time around I just wanted to skip through the whole city part after the first intro mission.

Started on my second round through. stopped after collecting liara (with intention of getting that badge) and returning to the citadel to do all those missions there..... cba, so its just lying there...

Just started this today, seems amazing... graphics are ace and story is right up my street. Typical Bioware quality! Jade Empire will be next I think. :)

I think this is the first game I've completed in the last 2 years. Have so many uncompleted games lying around as they've all gone graphics over gameplay and storyline (crysis, bioshock etc etc).

Fantastic game (Mass Effect) give it a go you won't regret it. I'm just on my 2nd play through though I may stop and buy it PC instead of Xbox for the 2nd time play. It has an excellent story and the end truely rocks, so much so I went out and bought the prequel novel and the subsequent followup novel and even there good !

I really enjoyed Mass Effect, though unless your an achievement junky I would just stick to the main quests and ignore the side quests, they are almost all naff.

One exception is a line you get from some Admiral in the Council meeting hall

(That's as little detail as I can give without risking spoilers)

Good game, lots of fun if you play as a total git as well!

I completed my first run through of Mass effect today so thought I'd sum up my experience here.

I have to say overall it was a very decent experience. The graphics of the game are very good throughout, especially so in cut scenes as well as the effects of techs and when your shield regenerates etc. They help to create a good game atmosphere.

As already mentioned the non story line planets are unpopulated and sparse, probably as a lot are in real life but it didnt make for an exciting experience. Definitely a minus point of the game are the 'collecting elements/writings/tags/emblems quests'. At one point I was quite jaded and bored by them but I came back and persevered to do them. You could skip them and play through the main quest a few times to get your EXP up.

I really liked the storyline, it progressed quite rapidly and became satisfyingly epic as you drew towards the end point of the game. I liked some of the choices you have to make at a few key points towads the end of the game as they were quite dramatic on 'your' story line so I look forward to seeing what happens in the other choices.

It seems to me that since the game is part of a trilogy and is regarded as on the short side without the side quests (you can avoid them but I didnt think they were that bad! - the collecting things tasks are the main culprits of boredom!) that anyone should grab this title when its cheap (12.98 aint bad!) and just enjoy the story and experience.

I may well play through again to do some of the achievements I havent done and to explore the renegade side of things which I dabbled with when I became full paragon (lots of shooting people in the head seemed to ensue!). Overall I think it was a 9/10 experience for me. :)

I might post some non spoiler screenies here or on the screenshots thread at some point.

As title really, looking to try a new game and this has intrested me, is it worth a shot and is the story good enough to hold attention?

I just bought the game through EA's online store downloading it now BUT i did try it at a friends and the story line is awesome, graphics are awesome and the game isnt as short as people say, it is if you play it non stop and dont do any of the side quests or talk to your crew or do any exploring.

It's ok, is what I'd sum it up as. It has some good (if buggy graphics), the story line appears quite interesting and some of the music is good. The bad points is the performance with everything turned on max - runs like a 3 legged dog on my machine. It crashes quite a bit too and the combat is just too easy - there's almost no need to use any tactical nous to defeat the enemy. The AI is also quite poor.

It's a decent enough game but given Bioware's pedigree it's not up to snuff IMO when you compare it to the Balder's Gate series and the first KOTOR.

I just got it brand new from a certain online shop for £11inc, only just did the first mission but looks great so far.

Just started playing, seems really good. If you don't mind a bit of dialogue. Shame you cant use a 360 controller on the PC, Mouse and Keyboard are prob better anyhow. Don't think it has much replay value, but will keep me amused for a while.

I just finished playing through. I made the mistake of playing a female character, so I didn't get to bonk an alien.

Spoiler:

Is there any way to save Wrex on Virmire? I went through the dialogue which I thought was the most diplomatic at the time, but he just got ****** anyway and Ashley shot him.

(It just occurred to me that if I DON'T go up and talk to him, he might not get ****** enough to warrant being put down. Would that work?)

While the graphics do all look good, the lights appear to be awful. Chunky pixels. The rest of the game looks great, though. But running through the citadel, its hard to appreciate the rest of it when you have them there :(
