Anyone else watching this?

Just started, 24 to be whittled down to 12 so they have kicked off with the invention test, one girls bench looks like someone has dropped a grenade on it.

I don't normally watch this one, always amazed what some people can produce who aren't professional chefs.

Impressed so far - that rump steak wasn't rested long enough (dunno why they didn't pick up on that) and that lemon tart was a v odd choice. V early to judge though.

I think I'm in love with Aki though, quantum physicist + chef? awesome.

I am, but I'm regretting my decision already. And now we've had some berk get all teary in the judging room I'm going to do exactly what I did last year and switch off.

Masterchef Australia has the format nailed, bar the idiotic talking heads during the cooking in the latter stages of the show. Masterchef: The Professionals worked brilliantly this time around. And Masterchef itself worked fine before they moved it to prime-time BBC One and ruined the flow of the whole thing.

I might pick it up again in the latter stages, but right now I'd rather watch repeats of Top Chef and Masterchef Australia.

What an enormous ****.

Thought they coped v well considering.

Glaucus - my opinion has changed.. if this were a date I would have climbed out of the toilet window by now.

Just take the wine bottle and stick it down her throat.
Why do I get the feeling regardless of how she cooks, she's staying. They always have a pretty one in, till near the end.

Are they all trying to use as many ingredients as they can ?

It's a common issue in these program's. They either go to simple to make sure it's right, or over complicated to try an wow them. When what they should be doing is technical but very balanced dish.

I need that coconut curry fish recipe. Hope they stick it up in the website.

Loving the inventive guy as well, was it Tim?

Edit - Tom be interesting to see how he evolves. I think him and shalinae(sp) have got the potential to grow massively.
