Masterchef 2012

They definately need a rethink about the way the competition element works : don't simply get rid of the worst person, but think about who is good enough/has potential to be worthy of the final and title.

I would much prefer to see 4 people go from the final 6, leaving more challenges between the final pair to show their variety and hone some quality skills.

I've stopped watching this since they decided to put 2 contestants through who were simply nowhere near good enough. This is a very poorly produced series.

Agreed. Compared to previous seasons this doesn't do it for me.

Meh.

There still isn't a standout candidate and this series just seems full of ~average cooks.

That said, I like Jay, but don't feel any of them are 'worthy' of winning.

I think they'd of been better showing more shows in a week too as I'm losing motivation to continue watching.

I'm up to date on these now. At home we've both commented that the series is dragging. I have to say I don't like John Torode much, which isn't helping. The other thing is we're in the finals now and some of the contestants are making some really inexcusable errors, like overcooking partridge. Not everyone has cooked game before but, seriously, if you've ever cooked a partridge you know how dry it goes if it's overcooked. It's like he'd never cooked one before

That and some of the flavour combinations coming out are just strange and don't work and I think the presentation needs to be worked on.

Just to let you know, I've thrown in the hat and deleted the last two episodes I haven't watched.

When's Australian version back on.

I can't understand how that guy was still on the show - I've not seen a single thing that has been remotely appealing, let alone impressive.

Shelina and Tom are miles ahead of the rest in my opinion - and although they are both level pegging, their styles are very different.

Shelina's starter last night looked great and critics couldn't fault it. Her main however, looked very strange to me, but clearly tasted great or they wouldn't have been rating it so highly.

The little nervous guy seems to have some potential, but it always seems on the uncomfortable side of risque and his attitude is a bit stinky for me.

Agreed , this is easily the worst standard of cooking for many a series. In fact, I can't recall set of contestants making this many errors, every week.

Shelina will win by a street, not that she's a brilliant cook, just the competition is so poor. she'd have to have a nightmare final round for her not to win.

Tom has a very small chance of beating her. Andrew no chance.

Jay is one of the worst cooks I've ever witnessed...he'll be next to go...hard to believe anyone could be worse than him, but Eamonn managed it quite easily lol.

Well you were right, although Tom's food did look more creative to me on the final day. Shelina was by far the stronger competitor start to finish.

I agree that there has not been a stand out cook but the three finalists are still of a very good standard, they're just inconsistent and the weaker cooks were allowed far further in the competition then they really should have gone.

I like all three finalists, I think they're good cooks, it's a real shame there isn't an outstanding cook like in previous years (or Tim to be more precise)

Shelina's food is marvellous at times, and she's that little cut above Andrew and Tom.

I struggled with this season if I'm honest.

I think it was too soon after Professional Masterchef (which I got into in a big way).

I still watched it, but wasn't as engaged.

I thought Shelina would do it, but I think all three of them have come on leaps and bounds since the beginning, which is really what it's all about.

I bet what they cooked tasted amazing, but watching it last night.. there was too much faffing around with making a painting rather than a dish.

Personally find it a little offputting when you know someone has been playing that much with your food >_>

Can't be alone here surely :p

Well strawberries with pork belly was never going to work. What was he thinking?

From last nights show she was clearly going to win. The other guys just made mistakes.

But I can't say any of the contestants this year have grabbed my attention in the way some have in previous years. At no point did I think "Wow!" at anything any of them did.
