Masterchef 2012

I know its a competion, every person for themselves and all that but Tom is a ****. Last week he threw Shelina's truffle into the bin and didn't apologize or offer to remove it from the bin. This week he changed oven temperatures to suit his dish and despite Aki asking who did it, he didn't have the balls to own up.

Glad it's not just me who thinks this.

Agreed.

And is this series featuring a particularly weak selection of candidates? Prior years I've been in awe of at least three people...on this occasion there's no-one that particularly sticks out.

Best thing of the season for me has got to be Gregg Wallace growling and shaking his jowls about. We backed that up and watched that about 10 times lol.

Last time I giggled that much was Mr Roux getting all psycho a couple of seasons back:

Agreed. Not that inspiring really.

Now two episodes behind, got them recorded, but not much motivation to watch them.

Boring format, annoying presenters. Aki does my head in and weak contastants.

An well better stick the first one on. Whilst waiting for chips and falafel.

I dislike nearly all of the 'venue' challenges - especially the 'serve 300 soldiers from a tent' or 'cook someone elses recipe'.

The standard seems so much lower than previous series- perhaps my own food knowledge & experience now means I have higher standards to please?

I've seen Australian Masterchef and the UK version seems so very pale by comparison.

At least the music choices are still varied and high quality - Masterchef radio :p

The Australian presenters have some soul and are interesting. Same cant be said for Greg and John. Can't wait for next Australian series.

Right, here's an example of what annoys me.

One of the contestants cooked a black olive and chocolate tart. It was met with a gasp of "oh, blimey, contraversial.." etc. even from Michel Roux Jr.

I thought at the time that it seemed familiar, and then having a quick look on the internet i recognised black olive and bitter chocolate tart from David Everitt-Matthias' "dessert" recipe book.

I'm not saying that the chef copied it from here, but to say it's an unusual choice?

Another thing was Aki talking about how she had experimented with LN2 in her physics lab, or whatever, and how she thought it might be good for ice cream. She obviously hadn't noticed every chef and whatnot who had been using LN2 for ice cream for years?

I've stopped watching this since they decided to put 2 contestants through who were simply nowhere near good enough. This is a very poorly produced series.
