Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

Probably doing it that way as he prefers the ££ to go into the exchange and not the bookie account as withdrawals can take longer.

There is no money at the bookies - I'm laying the draw on betfair and trading out on betfair. It's not the same as matched betting which is why I apologised for discussing in this thread!

@booyaka, with traditional matched betting what are your views/tips on mug betting / avoiding getting gubbed? You seem quite experience in matched betting hence my question.

In laymens terms, what is a 'mug bet' and how often do you need to make these per bookie? I only started this all Saturday just gone and obviously want to avoid getting gubbed.

Currently I'm completing the qualifying and free bets, then withdrawing my entire balance from the bookies (to make sure I don't leave any behind anywhere) across the various accounts. Good practice?

Also, am I correct in saying you cannot get gubbed by the exchange? And only by bookies? Obviously having a large amount of cash in the exchange, if you got gubbed and lost access to these funds altogether it would be a huge problem!

Thanks!

Pick a football team. Every time they play, back them. Play a bit of casino. Do some accumulators now and then.
And with that am I correct in saying that you obviously just lay the bet on the exchange (which the bookie doesn't know about) so you appear genuine to the bookie but in reality you still don't really lose? You're only maybe losing a 50p or whatever due to the odds difference?

Or am I misunderstanding?

And I guess after you've done all the joining offers, maybe just keep accounts active with the 'main' few bookies? Otherwise you'd have 20 odd accounts you're trying to mug bet on surely?

Also, running out of offers on FixTheOdds

What's the general consensus on what I should sign up to... Profit Accumulator or yesbets?

Thanks!

HELP PLEASE - MADE A MISTAKE AND LAYED THE WRONG AMOUNT

Hi all,

Help would be much appreciated here please. Game is tonight (Thursday evening UK time)

So for Celta Vigo v FK Krasnodar...

I was supposed to back FK Krasnodar at Comeon with a free £10 @ 6.70 - which I did

I was supposed to lay FK Krasnodar at Betfair with £7.76 @ 7.40 BUT previously in the calculator I had the free bet back stake set to £20 from another offer, so I ended up laying it for £15.51 instead as the calculator thought I backed £20, when in reality I backed £10

What should I do please to correct this??

Liability should have been £49.66 on Betfair, but due to the mistake and laying £15.51 instead of £7.76, the liability is actually £99.26 :eek:

Am I correct in saying it is best to just not touch it and hope for the best? Because the free bet is likely to lose anyway at 6.70, so I will 'win' my lay bet at Betfair and profit the £15.51 instead of the £7.76?

Or is it best to 'correct' the mistake by actually backing another £10 with my own money at Comeon?

Help would be great please! Thanks!

You want to BACK £8 @ 7.2 on Betfair Exchange, or if the odds have changed since I just looked, it's 49.60/(back odds - 1).
Thank you very much!!

Like so?

I think I get the general reasoning behind that, so that is cancelling out the extra liability I accidentally gave myself with the wrong lay?

EDIT: So the only time I would be liable for the £99.26 is if Krasnodar actually DO win, so if that happens the back bet will win and give me £49.60 ... and the remainder of the liability will be covered by the free bet/stake on Comeon?

Am I correct in my understanding? Good to know for future

Thank you again!

Just a heads up, Yesbets are offering a whole month free ahead of Cheltenham. I know referrals are frowned upon but as I get nothing out of this and it's purely a gesture of good will, I'm hoping it'll slip through the net. Drop me a trust if you want a referral. Personally I love Yesbets as is fairly well documented here, I wouldn't want to do MB without them.

Give it a go folks, free can't harm anyone :)

Sounds better than me just going at it "on my own" so to speak as I am currently when doing offers manually that I'm spotting I'm FixTheOdds. Plus the selection there seems limited (fair enough I guess since it is free)

Fixtheoods is the absolute gutter department of matched betting. I did the intro offers and sacked them off. They were terrible, surprised they're still a thing. Yesbets is in a whole different league, if you're not happy with it I'll eat @Maccy's hat.

Haha! We shall see how it goes then! Cheers :)

'Tis quite clear on the postcard that the referral bonus remains!

I didn't even see that. As the person who instigated the free month, I thought I'd have gotten exactly what I asked for and nothing more, as I don't want any money from it.

A bit like all the referral links in your sig then ;)

(yeah, I wasn't going to bring that up but if you're going to be a dick then so am I :))

What diddums said - back Man Utd or whoever every game they play, lay off on exchange, cost you maybe 50p. A few acca's etc.

Also personally withdrawing money immediately after a win is a sure sign of someone who is only interested in offers etc - leave the money in until you need it etc.

Betfair won't gub you but be careful as paddy power and betfair are the same company so if betting on PP, lay off on smarkets.

(yeah, I wasn't going to bring that up but if you're going to be a **** then so am I :))

Not at all trying to be a 4 asterix - I apologise for coming across like that. I only thought that given it is acknowledged to be a contentious subject, there should be transparency.

I certainly do think it is a great offer for people wanting to get into it in time for Cheltenham (although I'd argue that horse reloads are a bit advanced for matched bettors only signing up now)

Thanks for the tips! :) Especially re PP and betfair, didn't know about that!

Point taken with regards to withdrawing money, sounds reasonable enough... I just didn't want to leave any behind in various accounts with bookies accidentally because I've only been doing it since Saturday and already signed up with about 5 or 6 bookies. Could be a high potential to have money spread across loads of places and forget about it, no?

Also with regards to the mug betting, similar to the point above with regards to loads of bookies, do you tend to mug bet on all of them, or just try and keep accounts with the important/main ones for ongoing stuff? Could be up to 20 or 30 bookies I guess in a few weeks and that would be a lot of mug betting to keep track of surely?
