Agreed - football seems to be more stable and why it is the preferred method in matched betting. To be honest, football happens across the world (yes, football is played outside the UK!) so there is always a steady stream of relevant bets on the market.

The other day Fixtheodds suggested that I placed bets on 'Oberhausen' out of everything!

Just signed up to this. Have been having the odd wager on Ladbrokes for a while now to no real avail. I play the accumulators but just as my mate pointed out; you get better odds on the lower leagues but you really need to know your stuff to make any decent winnings. Matched betting looks like a guaranteed little bit of pocket money though :)

There is rather limited upside and it is time consuming - if you're a student then go for it otherwise... meh...

Tis perfectly possible to make money from gambling however if you're the sort of person for whom it wasn't already blatantly obvious that you could take advantage of a free bet without someone explaining that matched betting exists and writing an idiots guide to doing it then its probably best you stick to matched betting exhaust what offers you can find and never gamble again tbh....

Free bets at bookies have been around for ages and there was also time where new online casinos would offer introductory offers with very few restrictions - literally cover everything on the roulette wheel and you're done - this didn't last long (twas some place called the spin room in early 2000 or so IIRC) however blackjack played with basic strategy has a very small -ev (much less than the bonuses that were on offer) and this worked well for a bit too. Video poker was also plausible. They've got much much more stingy these days tbh...

If you'd got into this 10 years ago you'd have made thousands - these days you just don't have the same sort of offers any more.

Which sites are offering genuine free bets, rather than bet £x and we'll match it?

Yeah, it doesn't work that way with most bookmakers...

That's the whole point of matched betting - you guarantee a profit by using the loophole of getting a betting exchange involved..

Therefore in the first step, you make a minimal loss and then in the second step, you maximise your profit as it's a free bet. Have a look at some of the earlier posts, which I think better explains how it works!

Head over to moneysaving expert they have a whole forum about it.

I did it for a year or so made a tidy some, now only do the occasional casino bonus, but made a few K out of that quickly ;)

How do you have a years worth of offers? At the moment I've done three offers on Fixtheodds and they will be done by the start of next week - I can see me finishing all the offers in a month :p
