Mate at work fired

You do know that you can only be racist if your white? I thought everyone knew this as well.

:D

So if a black person was fired for calling another black person 'Wigga' or 'Cracker' etc, then they'd be well within their rights to file a case of racial discrimination.

The hardest thing in this country is being a PC white person. It's just not possible.

Would you fire a black person for calling another black person 'cracker' or 'vanilla face'?

I'd fire them for a) being a moron and b) using words inappropriate to the job and situation with depending on the exact circumstances possibly a case against them for bullying in the workplace.

Or alternately I'd make a decision based on the context of what they were doing and how it was intended with more than likely a quiet word about what is and is not considered acceptable behaviour.

In the context of being said to another white person, is it racist though?

I'd agree that the languauge isn't appropriate and I'd discipline the employee, but getting dismissed is a bit rash imo.

Burnsy

Any form of descrimination. Doesnt have to be strictly racist, just happens that racism falls into the same "incident".

I got a black pc case so I can say what ever I like.

If someone spoke like that in my old office, I really wouldn't be surprised if they got fired. People who use words like that, or "******" etc aren't really the sort that you want in a professional working environment. I can remember one guy who started working beside me who used to walk into the office and shout "alright ****s", then sit and use similarly disgusting words while talking to customers and other staff during his shift. I think he lasted about a week.

Are you aware I had a person in human resources tell me after this thing played out that 'some people' were afraid of me around the studio. I asked her why, because I'm a 6-foot-1, black man with dark skin and who doesn't go around saying 'Yessah, massa sir' and 'No sir, massa' to everyone? It's nuts when your presence alone can just scare people, and that made me a prime candidate to take the heat in a dysfunctional family.

he should have gone with you ******* cracker because we all know its not racist if its used for white people :)

I quite regularly call people ****, ******, ********, ******** etc.
if i'm annoyed anyway, not had a single complaint yet, usually because they deserved it for buggering something.
(Note, those aren't racist, they're swearies)

He is agency and he said it to another agency worker, he wasnt higher up than him they are the same.
It was the N word but it doesnt matter as the bloke he said it to is white anyway.

OMG they weren't "wiggers" where they? I hate white people going up to each other and saying: "W'azzup *****?"

He should have been sacked for that alone.

Also, what the hell is up with people not wanting to type the word ******? It's only racist if used in context. Reminds me of that Family Guy episode!

No, ****** isn't a bad word. It's bandied around in publicly available songs everyday, so how can it be bad? Anyway, if it's OK for a black guy to use it then it's OK for anyone to use it, otherwise that could be construed as racism.

Truth.

Buy this man a beer! He's spot on!!!

Mate who i work with got fired today for calling someone a bad word. The person told on him, to the teamleader. Is that right i know the UK has gone insane with its PC but i think thats crazy over calling him a name.

Was there intent, or a hisotrz of verbal abuse?

And sometimes companies really can't risk anything so are forced to fire people or get fined large amounts for allowing abuse.

Go to youtube put in Alf Garnett in he search and watch some of those clips, you will be amazed at how things have changed and how we still moan about the same stuff as he was. I particularly like the rants about scousers and mick's.

It's hard to believe now that he could go on tv and say **** so often.
