Materazzi Insult to Zidane.

TBH I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like that to provoke a reaction like that.


It would have be trying to get a reaction, as obviously he'd not like the terrorist thing and coming from an Italian I seem to remember that in Italian culture that insulting someone’s mother is as bad as it gets.
 
Zidane was jogging away and something made him turn around, I doubt it was "Oi baldy!" I suspect it was a really bad comment and if so Materazzi should be banned, especially if it turns out to be a racist remark. That said, there is no excuse for a laying the nut on.

One point I must make is what very strange place to head butt someone, in the chest? LOL @ it for that alone. :D

It would be Zidane's word against his though, I doubt they'd get any conclusive proof
 
Point is no one but Materazzi and Zidane know for sure what was said, if it was due to the terrorist comment then fair enough but i dont think it warrants a headbutt tbh.
BUT if that italian said something much more serious ie insulting his family/parents then im behind him 110% as theres no need to get so personal on the field. Yes i know they all do a bit of backchat but as i said in my other post, he must have said something very serious to get that sort of reaction out of Zidane.

The question is who is going to believe who??, problem is that Zidane doesnt want to look bad in the publics eye so might make a few things up. As for Materazzi, again he might do the same...try and make out that Zidane was the bad guy etc etc.

Id be surprised and shocked if we ever found out the truth, sadly with the media these days i dont think we ever will.
 
I'm staggered by the amount of support for Zidane... why?

He committed the headbutt! Regardless of what happened it shouldn't have been done! Who's to say that Materazzi wasn't the victim, Zidane might have said something insulting first. Zidane's disceplinary record doesn't exactly do him any favours.

The thing is it is difficult to assess the real effectiveness of such a technique with an Italian. They will dive if you mess their hair up let alone nuttin' them. :D
 
Of all players, I would never expect Zidane to lose it like that. You rarely even see him going in with a dangerous challenge, hes just not that kind of player. Materazzi must have said something very serious imo to get that kind of a reaction from Zidane, I hope he does comes out with what was said to him.

Either way it was a red card offense, which he got. You didnt see him lose it after he got the card, he accepted it and walked off calmly. He doesnt lose any respect in my eyes, hes still one of the best players ever, end off.
