Hey,

Please could some help me with this equation:

I need to change it so the "inequality is replaced by an equality", not really sure how to do that though :(

Would I be correct in completely removing the second line, and saying the equation "holds if H(k) = 0"? Simply removing the then and else case and setting the equality to true?

Or is it not that simple? Maybe I need to keep the second line  the equation makes sense in context if H(k) = 0, but I fail at maths.

EDIT: if it's relevant H() is the information entropy function.

Thanks a lot :)

Is there enough information there for someone to actually answer? (Not that I could answer anyway).

It's not an equation, it's a statement. You can't "just modify it" to remove an inequality. There is no inequality to remove

Basically, it's saying that under the assumptions of the first line, the quantity H(k | s_i1,...s_it, X_p) lies in the range between zero and H(k).

... and without knowing the underlying mathematics that were used to derive this statement, it's impossible to state what will happen when H(k)=0.
