maths question

rule of thumb when it comes to equations is whatever you do on one side you have to do on the other

also going from 0=2-1/2 to 0=2+2/1 is wrong - just work through the maths and youll see that. As you put it when you 'flip' them it doesnt mean the sign has to change, it only changes when you move it from one side of the equation to the other.

y=2-1/x (If y=0 then)

0=2-1/x
0+1/x=2-1/x+1/x (added 1/x to both sides, which cancels out on the right hand side)
1/x=2
(1/x)*x=2*x (multiplied both sides by x, which cancels out on left hand side)
1=2x
1/2=(2x)/2 (divided both sides by 2, which cancels out on right hand side)
1/2=x
