Mattresses - I need knowledge

People spending what sounds like into the thousands on a mattress, there I was thinking I was bad for spending £350 from matressman site :)

got an el chepo double off ebay £110, good god it is so nice compared to 6" thick el cheapo IKEA that is in a rented house, not to mention its dead.
but wll take it with me when I move so at least I have something to sleep on why I decorate and imo easier to argue ware and tare at end of tenancy when you have deposit protection.

here's to comfort.

Sidesleeper here and been happy with my John Ryan Origins, had it since sometime first half of the year. We have an extra 3" cool blue foam topper also, really comfy.

Not tried a bed in a box to compare it to but the construction didn't look as good on the ones I saw.

Had my Origins 1500 for just over 2 years now. Still pretty much perfect. I turn every couple of months to keep it in best condition. I side sleep and solely on one half of the mattress, it has settles slightly but that's to be expected. Very happy with it still! I'll buy the same one again without hesitation if/when it needs replacing.

New mattress time for us. We've had a silent night one for 15+ years and it's dead. I've been crippled for 3 days, unable to walk properly. Got 3 hours sleep this morning on the wife's side and my back feels so much better but not perfect.

Wife likes being covered, has to be comfortable and snuggly. Weighs around 12 stone.

I'm 21 stone, like to be cool/warm when sleeping but not sweltering. Both side sleepers.

Looking at £600 as an absolute maximum.

No preference on foam or springs. Rather have a rolled mattress delivered than a folded one. Both of us are losing weight though so hoping to find one that will be comfortable at several weight levels. Medium firmness and breathable.

Any suggestions?

Foam vs springs is a personal preference. Most of whats been recommeneded so far is foam (simba etc) but while comfortable I find I sweat too much on them as they generally arnt breathable. If your looking brethable then your looking at springs and I recently got a Millbrook Enchantment 3000

http://www.millbrook-beds.co.uk/product/enchantment-3000/

UK handmade with all sorts of exotic materials. Can be had for around 850 in standard king sized which is a little overbudget but the all come with a 10 year warrenty so the extra money would pay for itself

Mattresses are so dependent on personal preference I don't see how a review can help too much once you're beyond the basics. We tried loads across lots of different shops and settled on an iGel from Benson's for beds which has been pretty comfortable. To be honest the gains between most of the mattresses we tried were pretty marginal - I'd probably have been perfectly happy on most of them.

We had a pocket sprung one before which was also good but was getting a bit old.

not sure all foams are warm - Tempurs are warm too, but I don't know if Dunlopillo would be, they have airation holes.
Its the suppoort aspect where all foams seem to loose out wrt to pocket though, the mattress just gets compressed in proximity to heavier body parts, maybe you get used to foam and it does not matter after a while though.

Has anyone had natural Duvets cleaned and regretted it ? saw they had a new year deal locally (Johnsons) , and wondered if the stuffing ends up being irrevocably knocked out, so it never had the loft it had before, even if it is cleaner.

Has anyone returned a Leesa mattress? Their FAQ makes it look quite simple.

I'm still kind of torn. There's nothing particularly wrong, in fact I'm sleeping later than usual, but I feel I might like to try a softer one like a Casper (as I think I mentioned before). I'm tempted to order the Casper, simply lean the Leesa against my wall for a week and then return whichever I don't want.

Watching this thread with interest.

Seen a lot of ads for matresses recently, and my current one is super awful. (Kozesleep pocket sprung mattress - avoid at all costs).

Tempur - the Serena Williams ad mattress.
Eve - pure memory foam?
Emma - made in Britain so will catch fire when used, apparently :p

So yeah, haven't done any research and guess will get a few LMGTFY replies, but interested like OP in what people recommend.

I saw about 100 different brands of similar looking mattresses when I was looking to replace mine a week or two ago, prices are all over the place for seemingly the same thing!

In the end, I went for this one which won some Which award, and had some good reviews online - can't fault it and incredibly comfy. I would say it's more comfortable than the Premier Inn ones (I stayed in one again yesterday :D)

Haha I agree - certainly put me off until I'd seen some of the reviews for the mattress.

I was really tempted to try one of the Eve/Simba et al mattresses but I had this horrible feeling there would be clause in the 100 day trial T&C's that would have left me lumbered with it.

We tried a Simba. Never liked it at all and sent it back so we come to the conclusion that spending decent money doesn't always get best results when it comes to a mattress you rather love it or hate it. Our current one we got off the rain forest for £200 from E.J life. It was a risk had it 5 months now and love it very comfy our bedding though is from Eve which is really nice

Anyone here that can recommend a decent mattress for someone who suffers from lower back pain / problems?

I am using a cheap mattress at the moment. I am sure it isn't helping with my lower back problem. It cost approx £90 a year ago. Always had cheap ones! Lol

It needs to be single mattress. Cost? Not really sure but don't want to spend hundreds and hundreds on one.

Thanks guys.
