Max Payne 1 has aged pretty darn well too graphics wise, great games nightmare levels were freaky.

Max Payne was one of the best games i ever played. As was number 2. Shame it never got the recognition it deserved, which i guess ultimately meant they didn't bother with a third.

Bullet time was a revelation at the time. Still a good game but not the best imo.

Both games were very popular. The second game didn't do as well as expected on release, but it still didn't do that badly in the grand scheme of things. Don't forget they were expecting GTA type sales! I guess that is what you get when you don't advertise something properly.

There is a movie in production, due in 2010!

How anyone can compare Stranglehold to Max Payne - madness.

Max Payne has a gripping storyline and good gameplay that keeps you hooked.

Stranglehold gets boring after the first 5 mins.

Possibly two of my favourite games ever, they completely gripped me all the way through and I loved every second (well apart from the stupid dream sections)

I would also recommend getting the cinema mod for Max Payne 2, it adds a load of cool new weapons although it does make the game slightly easier as it increases the amount of bullet time you get. http://www.moddb.com/mods/2549/cinema

Both Amazing games. Max Payne 1 was the game that got me full time into PC Gaming/Hardware.

Don't think there has been a game like them since.

They definetely set a new bar for PC Games.

Agreed with the majority of the other people in the thread - two very good games!

The story is very good it's a shame that they did not make a third as that needs to be done to complete the story imho.

For me, Max Payne's up there with Half-Life and Unreal Tournament as one of the games that really hooked me on PC gaming, and probably still ranks as one of my top 10 games ever.

If you can see past the graphics (which on its release were pretty good) you'll find it it to be a very stylish shooter with an engaging storyline.

Max Payne 2 has quite a few nice addon levels done by the community. My favourite is probably "Plaza Raid" (lots of cops fighting AK-wielding crooks in a shopping mall).
