Maximum everything build

You should probably go trifire or tripple SLI 680s. Rather than quad. Quad is really not going to give you a boost and outside of synthetic benchmarks often negatively impacts performance. Use the extra space for a sick Raid card/raid array or something similar.

Edit: forgot to say, SICK looking build and im very jealous!

I tried TriFire on 3x 1920x1200 screens and it was very good but using 3x 2560x1600 screens this time. I'm hoping at least some games will take advantage of the extra horseponys available for high resolution eyefinity.

I'm not sure people are thinking completely about practicality when making builds like this. I think a lot of builds like this are partly done for epeen.

but I agree with you, if this were my build, I would drop the 4th 680 for a soundcard (if I had good enough speakers) or a PCI SSD or something more practical.

For this money thousands of starving children there could be fed ^^

That's generally my point.

It's a bit similar to when people spend $35,000 on gold/diamond 'Vertu' phones.

Although spending $35,000 on a vertu phone is a lot worse than this, it's the same point.

I don't think that Cythx understands economics.

Any time you buy something you help put food in the mouths of quite a substantial number of people around the world.

In the case of this computer build you help pay the wages of the retailer (our good friends at ocuk). The delivery driver. The Phone company. The credit card company. The people who make all the parts. The people who designed the parts. The graphic artists who design the box graphics. The sales people who sold the parts to the retailers. Their marketing people. Then their families all went out and spent the money they received and the cycle continues ad infinitum... Possibly even resulting in some actual benefit to Cythx and other members of this forum.

So feel free to indulge in any expenditure, whether it be the daily necessities of life or the most indulgent luxuries you can think of. Everybody benefits.

I have some genuine questions for you.

Are you telling me, buying luxury items benefits impoverished children in africa just as much as funding charities that work in africa? I don't think that buying boutique PCs is going to help children starved of food and water in Africa as much as funding NGOs that aim specifically solving those problems.

I'll start buying a new graphics card every cycle instead of donating to charities such as Oxfam if that's the case.

I know when PC components are bought, this affects retailers right down to the factory workers in countries like China. Does that mean spending $10,000 on a computer is going to benefit impoverished children in congo/mauritania as much donating $10,000 to Oxfam activities in those areas?

and I'd also like to ask about this part specifically

pay the wages of the retailer (our good friends at ocuk).

When we were talking about impoverished children in Africa, what made you think we were referring to the people of the above occupations and their families? I don't think you find many impoverished African children in families of people who hold those occupations.

$35k on phone that is cheap! You can get gold diamond cases for iphone that cost $2 million a pop.

And recently there has been a sleeve case for ipad released pumped with so many diamonds that it costs over $10 million dollars a pop.

So stop being so cheap people. And yes i'd spend $1 million on gold phone tomorrow. It makes me feel good to have that in my pocket, knowing that when i pull it out at the bar hottest girls will be my for all night fun.

This thread is about a computer build and is posted in general hardware.

Please make your own thread if you wish to discuss other things. :)

In other news, green is in.

Wow one minute I'm reading a computer build in the general hardware section next minute I'm warped to the save the world community page throwing hatred at people anyone ask the op if he gives to charity for a start before u jump on him? No didn't think so
Isn't it our right to choose what we wish to do with our own hard earned money?
Now dont get me wrong( which u will as u have to prove your point and my point in your opinion will become non existent) I agree there are people who need help but it's a choice of the individual I do not like people knocking on my door trying to sell Jesus to me,showing me pictures of starving children I know that these things exist and if I wish to participate I will go there and do them it's called choice.......

I also love how people are always so concerned about country's they don't live in but ignore the problems in there own country any of u guys hating him go and help homeless people on your streets? Help children in this country? There's people in this country who starve and struggle to live but no one seems to care for them as much our country can send millions to other country's but can't support it's own country's projects.

I admire u fight to help people but attacking people for there decisions is the wrong way to go about it...

Sorry to deviate from the original thread
How's this build coming? Any more pics? What's this being used for?

They can just live inside the case :P

I think you got lost on your way over, this IS a computer forum, dont preach about people spending their own, hard earned money on what they want, if you want to donate £10k to a charity then go ahead. Im all for charity, but theres a time and a place, it aint here on this specific forum, and it aint on my local high street every day when i get hippy teenagers preaching to me about saving children when its hard enough for me to pay all my bills/living costs and bring up my own child.

Well said.
Hilarious to have complaints made on a hardware enthusiast forums, about people buying computer hardware... :D
