Hey All,

After installing the OS and getting everything working I decided to activate the RAID on the motherboard... after setting up a stripe array I thought that I would now boot into windows to see what happens... it just blue screens on the Windows Xp screen and restarts the computer....

Anyone had this problems?

Anyone know how to rectify it?

as far as i know, creating a RAID0 array will never stripe the data you have on the disk already, meaning you need to create the array, and then install the OS and other stuff. So put your windows cd back in, and install windows (and anything else you had on your HDD) again.

Hi Guys,

I'm not booting off the disk, and also the disks are not in use, it is a new array, I should have explained it better... OS on 120Gb disk... RAID is on a seperate two HDDS (RAID 0)

It's still a similar problem - if you're booting off the same controller as the RAID array is attached to you can't change the controller into RAID mode without having the correct drivers already installed. Unfortunately you can't install the RAID drivers unless the controller is in RAID mode - catch 22.

If you have a second SATA controller on the board it is possible (although not without risk) to move the boot drive onto the second controller and boot from there while you enable RAID mode on the main controller and install the drivers. In theory you can then move the drive back to where it was and boot successfully, it's a bit risky but may be worthwile thinking about.

Bugger.... really didnt realise that was the issue! Damn it... the thing about it is now can I be bothered having to reinstall the OS and everything else to do this?
