hi, i was wondering if there was any way to get the serial number of a Maxtor drive (SATA and ATA) without having to pull the HD and read it off manually?
the reason I'm asking is i want to sell a bunch of my hard drives (i got 7 atm) need to cut down and get fewer drives with more space.
I want to check warranty periods on them but to be able to read the serials off them, i have to remove the HD cages (4 screws), then remove another 4 screws on each HD, which is a VERY long and tedious job which I'd rather avoid!
The Maxtor site don't say anything apart reading them manually and I've always just looked on the drives in the past.
If anyone knows of a prog that might do the trick, please let me know.
Thanks,
Lad.
