Maybe it time to stop drinking water

We are an island surrounded by water. It's salt water so it needs desalination first.

Why do we only have ONE desalination plant in the UK? (Beckton, London, produces 150 million litres per day)

Sewage works only treat the water to make it clean to go back into rivers and local reservoirs. Water supply has its own process. But as people have said most water is generally recycled but will have gone through natural filtration as well.

I've just thought of the government's justification: take personal responsibility, buy bottled water! Do you really expect us to do our jobs? Plebs.

yea filtered by the earth.

I wouldn't trust any of the water companies when it comes to treated sewage directly entering the water supply lines....
look how they all skimp on costs, do the bare minimum and dump in the sea/rivers because it's cheaper than building temporary storage.

you really trust them to filter water 100%? what if they can get away with 95% and a few people get dheli belly or whatever.... if it saves a few million and they can get away with a small fine or whatever you know they would just do it.

before anyone comes in with "but nasa filters pee etc" yea and I'm sure to a ridiculously high standard with nothing left to chance to save on costs...
Yeah I'm sorry but I wouldn't trust any of these private companies to handle something like this. They'll do the bare minimum like you say, and then something will eventually go wrong, probably in a completely preventable way and people will get sick or possibly even die and the company will get a tiny slap on the wrist and then things will continue on as normal until the next incident.

if tories are still in power they will just lower the quality levels needed so these companies don't get fined, the owner has to donate to the party though

I was going to start drinking water but after that I think I’ll stick to beer

Made from water. ;)

They used to do that in days or yore when water was foul and beer was weaker, i guess the small amount of alcohol killed the bacteria.

Yup for hundreds of years people use to drink beer as it effectively cleaned the water.

And if you look back at when the water supplies got contaminated and the people that drank the beer were fine whilst every else died

TLDR: Drink beer not water.

its not the alcohol killing the bacteria, beer is boiled to sterilise it before it’s fermented and it’s easy to taste and see any after infections. This is one of the reasons people used to like glass bottoms in their tankards.

make it weak enough and it’s still hydrating. Used to be called “small beer”.

the only problem is it’s very energy intensive, so beer is going to get very expensive.

The local farms have been spraying human **** over the fields for years and apart from the odd bit of sweetcorn in the carrots, it has not been a problem.

Was trying to find the Grand Designs episode where a system of lakes, gravel and reeds meant that the waste was always being recycled.
AND PUT IN THE BOTTLE
:D
