Mayweather Vs Pacquiao is ON !!!!!

IT will be damn hard to call, and really the biggest question is what will Mayweather do if Pacman gets through his defense and is just to fast to counter, does he go on the offensive and use his own speed to hit Pacman first rather than counter?

It's really a question literally no one can answer, no one has been in Mayweather's league, not even close. We've never seen him come out of the jab/counter style because frankly he's never needed to, that doesn't mean he can't do it though.

It's a fight no one can call, no one good enough has tested Mayweather in a way that we can know how he'll react or what gameplan he might switch to. He might be a more aggressive and better offensive boxer than defensive/counter boxer for all we know.

Weights don't matter all that much though really, if he came in heavy, the fight would still go ahead anyway.

Thing is it will be the end of an era really. If Mayweather wins, he'll probably give up for good, he'll have proved himself completely with no questions left. If Pacman wins maybe a rematch will be on the cards, but either way Pacman will basically have no one left to fight after this one, not sure at this stage you can get that interested in a Pacman fight. Anyone but Mayweather, he wins, ok some good boxing on show but its not the same really.

Awesome..cant wait for this fight to happen.

Pacman i hope brings down the cocky Mayweather a few pegs...he definitely needs to imo...saying that i do like Mayweather though...awesome fighter but im going with the Pacman to take him apart systematically.

Might try and get my bro in Canada to see how much tickets are going to be, as ill most probably be there around that time and could do with a weekend in Vegas:p.

This will be a classic, I'm going to try and get tickets as soon as they are on sale.

Might seem odd to say this, but after watching the Cotto fight I actually feel more confident that Mayweather will have the edge against Pacquiao.

I just thought for the short amount of time Cotto worked behind his defence he looked reasonably solid against Pac Man. The difference could well be that Mayweather has the skills to work from behind his tight defences for the full fight. Having said that Pacquiao should still catch Mayweather more frequently than anyone has done so far.

Ive been looking at hotel accomodation in Vegas already. 4 nights for £100 :) Just need to rearrange work on monday and ill book it monday afternoon, imo no way they arent going to have it in Vegas. Who the hell wants to go to Texas?

Bearing in mind every flight from the UK adds $250,000 to the Vegas economy there is no way they will allow that fight to be anywhere else, this is going to be a huge revenue spinner.

One of the major ticket agents are already selling tickets for it at the MGM, prices start at $849 but that's at the back

Well the place that I was refering to I've warned against, reports of scams etc and it wasn't the site I thought it was..

From what I can see official tickets are not yet available.. A friend is putting out some feelers and getting back to me. I'll let you know what I find out, he reckons tickets will start at about $250.. Barrystickets.com say tickets are not yet available, I'm going to phone them tomorrow to check if they will ship the tickets to the UK.

Where abouts are you staying for £100 for 4 nights!?!? you don't want to stay anywhere dodgy (and there are some dodgy areas off the strip).. I'm going to stay at the MGM if I can (assuming the fight will be there)..

I'll keep you posted if you like..

im guessing mayweather is going to be running sticking his elbow out and hiding his head all night.....its unlikely he will get into a brawl with pacman.

its the best defense vs the best offense and im guessing it will probably be a points deciscion going to pacman.

Some odds are out already:

Coral bookmakers make the unbeaten American the 8-15 favourite over his Philippine opponent at 11-8, the draw is 25-1.

They seem to think its in Vegas, accomodation and flights getting booked in the morning! :D

I tend to agree, I think (at the moment anyway!) Mayweather will just be too damn sharp and won't get hit. But the pacman is devastatingly quick and accurate so who knows?

COtto was crap, his single good round was the first, when Pacman was simply doing his job, testing the waters. You don't wade in against an opponent while you don't know exactly what he's capable of, the second Pacman sized up his power, speed, movement he moved up a gear. Cotto did not look good behind his defense for the rest of the fight at all, he was just not even close to in it from the second round 1 finished.

While Cotto had his defence up after round 1, Pacman was getting through, a LOT, when Pacman had his arms up Cotto got about one decent punch through his gloves to Pacmans head, and completely ignored the fairly open body, largely I think because Cotto knew he wouldn't outlast him early in the fight so was hoping for a big KO punch rather than body shots to slow him.

It's a fight no one can call, because no one knows exactly what this current Pacman will do if he starts missing and getting caught, if he has to fight defensively, how would he cope, we can't possibly know its not happened before. The opposite is true aswell if Mayweather's defense is not good enough to avoid Pacman, will he switch and use his speed offensively which will make it much harder for Pacman to stay on the offense, again we can't know.

What if they end up just going toe to toe because their speed and accuracy simply cancel out both of their defense's/countering completely, again can't know.

THink about a game say Chelsea and Liverpool in the past few years where both teams were a little dull, overly defensive and produced an almost stalemate, these two might just be too good and end up in a stalemate, unable to catch the other with the big punches and both to clever and disciplined to do something stupid.
