Mayweather Vs Pacquiao is ON !!!!!

Pacquiao calling Mayweather's bluff. I like it.

Smells like a PR stunt from Floyd and his team. Doesn't look like he fancies the fight at all, as he never normally does anything like this.

Yup, Floyd is definitely scared and useing these kind of stunts to get to Pacquiao

He will look bad to the public of course. Headline would be very simple, FIGHT IS OFF DUE TO PACQUAIO REFUSING A BLOOD TEST. That's more than enough for the general public to hear.
No amount of PR work could repair Pac's reputation to the general public after that, especially in the US

You're telling me that a guy that could make $40m if he takes a blood test and is clean and goes on to win a fight would refuse if he wasn't hiding something?

Simple scenarios:
1. PacMan refuses the test and fight is called off - General consensus (whether it's true or not) - PacMan is a cheat and had something to hide

2. PacMan refuses the test but fight goes on:
a - PacMan wins - People question if it's a legitimate win or PacMan was cheating
b - Mayweather wins - Mayweather is hailed as P4P#1

3. PacMan takes the test and fails - Fight is off and the whole of PacMans recent career is put in to doubt, most likely kills his political standing in the Philippines too

4. PacMan takes the test and passes, fight goes on:
a - PacMan wins - PacMan is rightfully hailed as P4P#1 and has a shout to be one of the greatest of all time
b - Mayweather wins but PacMan performance is poor - People question if PacMan was poor because he couldn't cheat

Like everyone is saying Mayweather is trying to make excuses to not fight Pacman! And he's trying to play mind games by accusing him for taking drugs.
Pacman has been fighting for many years and he fought against all the greatest fighters in the world and beaten them. If Pacman was using drugs they would have caught him ages ago before he fought all those great fighters so why does Mayweather all of sudden brings up such a stupid accusation towards Pacman? Simple because he's scared!

Just because Pacman has done really well in his career and achieved something that not many fighter has ever done before, all of a sudden he gets accused for taking drugs? What the hell is with that? Cmon have some common sense...

People could also say ohh Muhammad Ali was taking drugs because he was able to beat most of his opponents, Michael Jordan must be taking drugs cos hes so good playing basketball. Christiano Ronaldo must be on steroids cos he is so fast and strong on the pitch and scores a lot of goals so he must be on drugs..
Mayweather who has never been b eaten before in his career, he must be also taking drugs cos he did so well!

Anyway I want this fight to happen but Mayweather just ruined it for all....what a coward!

In all honesty, boxing is slightly different in that it's a little dirtier and a little more forgiving.. Most fighters have come up through the hard knocks of life and probably have dabbled a little in drugs. (as well as killings / shootings etc) Saying what you said, would have meant that Margaritto for example would have been found out a lot sooner for using illegal wraps all of his career. No one found that out. He got away with it.. I'm sure a lot of pro-boxers have been on the steroids, much like all the major baseball players and cyclists, before it all came out.. As it probably will do now in boxing.

Take a look at Roy Jones Jnr, a mega star in his time. MUST have been on the juice to get upto weight to fight Ruiz.. But just brushed under the carpet.

This fight will happen, theres too much money at stake.

The publics intrest in this fight is at it's peak. Neither fighter will risk having another warm up until they face each other.

The on / off stories give the fight more hype.

Erm how long have you been a boxing fan

Mosley never failed a boxing drug test not even once in his career (if I recall) yet he was widely regarded as one of the top P4P boxers of his generation at one point before coming up against Vernon Forrest. Mosely was and possibly still is on Steroids. Drug testing in just about any sport is not great and can be hidden. Especially when athletes know when the testing dates are.

Mayweather was the 1st one to sign the fight contract too and happily agreed to the weight and gloves for the fight. Kind of confused where the part of him being scared is.

Pacman said:
I have offered to give a blood sample 30 days before the fight. I am willing to give blood immediately after the fight is over inside my dressing room . I am also willing to give urine tests at anytime any where everyday leading up to the fight

If Pac offers to give blood straight after the fight, why is there even any disagreement over this?

Some drugs only have a 5 day or so detection rate in the body and so can easily be flushed out before the fight. Would be possible to use them to help with the training and then have them out of your system by fight time.

Having random tests would make it much more risky to take anything since you would never know when the test was going to be

I seriously can't believe that this has been allowed to happen. It's a complete shambles and I hope Pacquiao takes Mayweather and his camp to the cleaners.

Take Mayweather Jnr to the cleaners for what?
Mayweather hasn't said or done anything that would stand up in court. The whole case filed by Pacquiao is pretty much all about Mayweather Snr and maybe has a chance with what Oscar De La Hoya said. No way anything in this case about Maywather Jnr or even Roger Mayweather will stand up in court, it's laughable.

Really bad news for boxing as a whole and has seriously dented both fighters reputations.

Your right nothing can really be done, just fustration on my part that we may not get an oppurtunity to see 2 fighters of this caliber fight again in my lifetime.

Joke this is, serious joke.

Mayweather needs to drop his act, if steroid use is such a normal part of boxing as so many in here are claiming then he should fight Pacquiao regardless, his reputation will be tainted now if he doesn't anyway and if the drugs are so prevalent than he must have beaten someone else using them before, and Pacman has been beaten before.

I just think its petty to all of a sudden demand Olympic level regulations when boxing as a sport has been judged and policed for years with its own regulations and not much complaint.

If Mayweather fights him and loses without the tests, then he can just spout on forever that it was cause he was on steds, if he fights him and wins then done deal, history secured but if he ducks him over this then the same mark is gonna be next to his record.

Did you know that I'm also unbeaten in my pro boxing career? I haven't fought anyone, but I haven't lost.

Yep neither side is clean or can take any moral high ground out of this.
Both completely as bad as each other are.

Some theories are they are just trying to build up the fight even more but I just don't see it like that. I think it is off and Pac will fight a meaningless fight against Foreman and Mayweather will retire again.

Makes Berto v Mosely the biggest fight in the division now. Hopefully Berto can come through that one! Then a Berto v Mayweather fight although is unlikely.

Is it time for a Don to edit the thread title now since it appears to be very much off? :p

Real pity though as it had the potential to be a fantastic fight.

Never say never ! I reckon something will come up late in 2010.

But for now it is a complete shame for boxing.. As someone said both fighters come out looking bad over this.

Pac-man comes off looking a little suspicious, whatever way you look at it.. and Mayweather comes off looking like a ducker.. In his mind his unbeaten record is worth more to him than 40mil ?? You can beat my ass every day to Sunday for $40mil that's for sure !

No wonder everyone is turning to Ultimate Floor Cuddling.

I find it funny that everyones jumping on Mayweathers back saying he's scared, when he's hardly giving an impossible list of demands.

He's not saying that have to fight during Ramadan, at the peak of mount everest, having been drained of 4 pints of blood each, only if its on a full moon, and only if Obama is the ring announcer. If he was scared, he'd be making incredibly outrageous demands, maybe holding the fight in the international space station.

If Mayweather suspects Manny is cheating and thinks blood tests will either stop him, or catch him, then all manny has to do is have a miniscule vial of blood taken a couple times and boom, the fights on. Its really an incredibly basic request, that wouldn't remotely effect his performance.

As for drug testing as others have said, dozens of world champions have admitted to cheating well after their career's are long gone, some have gone to jail having been found out after the fact. If blood testing isn't standard in boxing(which it damn well should be) then drugs that can be hidden in urine would be standard, hidden from blood tests wouldn't be standard, its a hundred million dollar industry at the moment, designer drugs for very specific purposes.

Considering this is Mayweathers last fight ever, and he might lose, how would you like it if you were the P4P champion, lost your final fight and when you're 60 you find out the other guy cheated, but its too late at that stage, all for the sake of a very simple blood test.

Mayweathers "role" in boxing is the hated one, its not much different to WWF, they play roles to play up the fight and the hate to the camera, Mayweathers always been the arrogant personality in these situations.

Likewise as much as this is making sure Pacman isn't cheating, its a publicity stunt to increase the "tension" between the fighters which they'll play up at a later date pre-fight.

Before a fight the antics really aren't anything more than pure WWF playacting, but really this is Mayweathers very very last outting, wouldn't you want every assurance it was a fair fight. Is a blood test really that big an ask?
