Mcdonalds Everyday?

you bet wrong, don't make assumptions. i eat what i like when i like. i am 6ft 2 and weigh 12.5 - 13 stone.

i exercise at least 3 times a week so don't feel the need to diet or lose weight.

however you obviously know everything about food and nutrition. :rolleyes:

big macs and subways are bad for you, plain and simple. if you want to feed your face that crap thats your choice.

DIET isn't something you do every 6 months when you get fat - it is how you eat for life. I eat very well - average of 7-8 portions of fruit and veg a day, exercise regularly, and enjoy a McDonalds or Subway every few weeks. Please explain to me why this is "bad for me".
 
what is too much? is eating enough to make you not hungry enough? a high calorie, high fat diet will make you overweight, its not always about eating too much, its eating too much of the wrong thing.
 
I wish people would take a bit of responsibility for things and stop blaming foods when they become obese.

I couldn't agree with you more, but I think in a lot of cases people are genuinely ignorant (perhaps blinkered) about what they eat. Take for example the person who goes to Tesco for their lunch and gets a ham salad sandwich, thinking it's the healthy option. A quick gander at the label shows you it's packed with salt and they've added some mayo, but these facts aren't obvious.

It's all very well saying that eating more calories than you burn makes you fat, but the point that this thread has drifted onto is that some foods make it much, much easier to go over your 'calories burned' total.
 
How can you even consider saying subway is like mcdonalds.
Mcdonalds, just the smell makes me want to gag, the taste is much worse than anyone could anticipate.
Subway, they do heavenly meatball marana sammiches or tereyake chicken, either way mayo, lettuce, jalapeno's, onions and cheese on it. Pure heaven.
 
Well, personally, I'm quite careful about portion sizes, nutritional breakdown etc. I think too much of something is when it would push my calories for a day over maintenance levels. For example, when I'm having mayo, I have a small tablespoon worth - this isn't a problem. Were I to have half a jar worth, it would be a problem, and long term would make me put on weight. However, the same could be said of other things - were I to have 3 chicken breasts a night instead of 1, I'd also put on weight.

EDIT: yes, I'll agree that eating something like Mayo does "make it easier" to go easily bump up calories, but my point stems more from the fact that this is quite obvious, yet people seem surprised when they get fat. If you want to eat lots of mayo, fine, but compensate by reducing overall calories, or increasing exercise :)
 
It's not relly the persons fault if their overweight most of the time it all depends on your metabolic rate for example I eat like a horse and am very skinny yet my dad doesn't eat as much but is a for lack of a better description a Fat git however this is due to the fact he has a slower metabolic rate than I do hence his body doesn't burn off the fat as quick as mine

If you take equally sedentary people, it's my experience that the fat people in the group do simply eat more. They always have an excuse to eat, they are always "starving", rather than simply "hungry" and will graze through snacks whenever they feel a bit low. This might come across as simplistic or like a sound bite, but it's just what I've observed.
 
Look I don't know how it works exactly but metabolism

You are young, therefore you have a relatively high metabolic rate, meaning your body (at rest) burns a fairly high number of calories.

Your father, being older, has a slower metabolic rate, and therefore his maintenance calories (the amount he needs to eat in order to maintain his weight) is lower than yours.

The reason he is fat is because he eats too much.
 
Yeah but say I had a Identical twin brother who ate the same amount as me but had a slower metabolic rate than I did technically he'd gain more weight so it's not technically his fault he's getting bigger it's his metabolism that dictates his weight!
 
Does his metabolic rate cause him to eat more? No.

If he gets fat, it is HIS fault. It is HIM that is putting the food into his mouth. You can either adjust your diet accordingly if you have a freak metabolic rate, or you can get fat. Don't get fat and then blame something else. Everyone has the choice to eat more or less.
 
It may be that a person has such a slow metabolic rate that even eating say half a bowl of cereal causes them to put on weight is that his fault no!

So, you're saying there is someone out there who has a maintenance calorie level of about 80 calories per day?

Please, you don't know what you're talking about, stop.
 
I'm so getting a McDonalds for lunch.

Bread, 100% beef, lettuce, cheese, sounds quite healthy. :p

Apart from getting fat what else might it do to you, coz I will never get fat? Heart disease and stuff?
 
Okay, first of all i've seen Super Size Me, I know eating McD's everyday, three times a day will more than likely ruin my health, but will eating a Big Mac meal once a day, maybe three to four times a week really screw me over?

I'm 23, 6ft and weigh 75kg, so i'm not looking to lose or gain weight, but given that the Big Mac meal has a load of protein and carbs, I find it a nice fast supplement meal despite the tonne of fat and salt included.

So yeah, Big Mac meal, three to four times a WEEK... will it be that detrimental to my health? If so, if not, what are your opinions on the matter, your habits with fast food, etc?

Are you 10 years old? I wouldn't want free Mc Donalds meals, let alone eat everyday.
