Getting you to shut up is seeming impossible :)

Accept that there are certain things that are, in fact, not possible.

Having a resting metabolic rate so low that you burn only 80 calories a day is one of those. Maybe if you were some kind of quadriplegic dwarf, in a coma, you might have a maintenance calorie level close to 80/day!
 
It's not relly the persons fault if their overweight most of the time it all depends on your metabolic rate for example I eat like a horse and am very skinny yet my dad doesn't eat as much but is a for lack of a better description a Fat git however this is due to the fact he has a slower metabolic rate than I do hence his body doesn't burn off the fat as quick as mine
Your father eats too much food therefore he gains weight, he has a slower metabolism because of his age and propably needs less calories than he consumes.

What everyone is saying is that the only way to gain weight is to eat too much food, but the amount varies as shown by your example, when you get older you gain weight much faster, it sucks but the only way to stop gaining weight is to eat less or excersize more so your body uses more calories.

The problem some people have is that they (or they say so) always feel hungry even though their body does not need more calories.
 
Bread, 100% beef, lettuce, cheese, sounds quite healthy. :p

Cheers for your opinions guys. The McD's is literally five minutes away as I live right next to a shopping mall in Hong Kong. No excuses though, the place where I live is right next to the airport and has a food republic with a variety of different cuisines albeit more expensive.

I think in retrospect i'll cut down my big mac meals to once or twice a week and ask for something like a chicken fillet burger without mayo for a third supplement, balancing every other day. It's cheap ($25 for a mac meal, is £1.50), so that's my first incentive and the other incentive was simply the amount of protein, sugar and carbs i could quickly consume after a workout session.

Taking in account the RDA of both males and females, I still figured after an intensive morning session in the gym a big mac meal is a lot better than say some of the girls i know who only drink water and eat an apple. It fills me up, allows me to carry on through till dinner and doesn't make me feel sick or anything so long as I takeaway and stay away from eating inside the (so-called) restaurant.

I exercise and do a lot of resistance training as well as play tennis, badminton, b-ball and footy regularly as the apartment i live in has a whole host of sports facilities. I'm also very strict with the amount of fibre, fruit, veg i eat daily, so I don't think i'm diggin' a grave quite yet. I also don't drink, smoke, so i guess the two, three Mcdonalds a week aren't going to completely screw me over.

Are you 10 years old? I wouldn't want free Mc Donalds meals, let alone eat everyday.

I hope that is a joke.

It's actually true I reckon, I chug down food and drink like a madman, excercise regularly and I am only 27, yet I have a slight gut.
Theres a skinny middle aged guy at work and loads of us went for a chinese, he ate more than me, kept up pint for pint, always see him eat like a pig in his breaks, doesn't excercise, skinny as hell.

Someone who is older, doesn't excercise and eats more should surely be more fat?
 
Eating fast food to get your protein and carbs is the dumbest thing i've ever heard. If you want protein, eat lean chicken. If you want carbs, eat oatmeal. I really don't see the big deal with fast food, it tastes like sh!t to begin with and doesn't do anything apart from adding fat to your body. Its ok to eat 1-2 times week though without getting overweight. Even if you eat crap,drink,don't workout and after all that you're still skinny, doesn't mean you're healthy.

Eating that amount probably wont do you much good if you're a lazy ******* to start with!

The main thing i see wrong with it is the lack of variety! I like a bit of a change. Today i had two tuna salad bageuttes from Greggs,yesterday i had penne picante pasta from the local di maggios,day before a lovely big steak pie and i can't remember what else.

I am quite active and like to walk a lot of places so i dont tend to notice putting much weight on and i've stayed around the same weight for a good while. Just under 12 stone at the moment.

Why is eating a Big Mac meal to supplement part of your daily protein and carbs, "the dumbest thing" you've ever heard?

Who says I don't eat oatmeal for breakfast and lean meat for supper?

I balance my intake of carbs, protein and fat quite well with a 40:30:30 ratio on normal days and a big mac meal adds to my diet's protein and carbs very nicely. Sure the sugar and salt levels are high, but I don't eat chocolate, drink coke, etc and I certainly don't believe I go anywhere near overboard with junk food.

A big mac doesn't only add fat to your body, especially in moderation while eating fresh food and other food groups as well. More sweeping statements from killjoy propaganda bandwagon jumpees.

If you feel Mcdonalds taste like so, then that's your perogative; personally I enjoy the taste of a big mac as hard as that is to believe for you.

Certain things are considered "fattening" (imo) because they're easy to add to a regular diet or meal and contribute a huge amount of calories and arent substantial and are easily overlooked (like mayo, much nicer than cottage cheese with tuna) you wont get much nutrition from them and will be hungry again soon after and more prone to snacking/eating more. no one would recommend a bigmac as part of a healthy diet and theres a reason for that, sure its fine in moderation just as everything.

just because you eat healthily doesnt make a bigmac a good choice for dinner no matter how nice you think it tastes (and yes i do eat mcdonalds).

Another vote for the big mac, they are great and dont hurt eating them now and then.

Having a McDonald's is something I only rarely do, like if I'm out shopping and get peckish I'll pop in and grab a couple of cheeseburgers and fries or a Big Mac meal. Other than that I tend to steer away from big fast food places (I refuse to call them restaurants).

That said though, my dirty little vice is burgers and kebabs from my local kebab shop, they're 100% home made on the premises and boy are they good. :)
 
I never drink soft drinks, and if I did buy a meal (probably buy 1 get 1 free or such), I'd get an orange juice. So without the meal, I tend not to buy the fries. The burgers have a protein, carbs and some lettice; balance.

I ate a McDonalds on a Saturday from very young till 13, and I was a fit young'un.
